Another Featured Designer Friday is here Sweet Shoppers, and this week we’re bringing you part two of Misty Cato’s playful 4 in ’14 spotlight which is going to give you a taste of some of her favorite books, a peek at her beautiful family and MORE! I have been loving the chance to get to know our designers a little better through words and pictures, and I hope you have been enjoying it, too! Don’t forget between now and next Thursday, November 6th, you’ll get Growth Spurt, Misty’s darling full-sized featured designer kit, FREE when you spend $10 in the shoppe!

I’m usually the one behind the camera, so it was hard to round up photos of me for this page. I had to raid my mom’s Facebook posts (thanks mom!).  I like the end result though, because these photos capture me at my happiest moments; hanging with family and playing with my kiddos.

Everyday the kids and I walk 1/2 of a mile through a beautiful, wooded trail to their elementary school.  I love watching the forest change with the seasons.  These photos were all taken at approximately the same location in summer, winter, spring and summer.

A few of the books I’ve read over the past year that have ‘stuck’ with me for one reason or another.

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin – A.J. Fikry is a pompous, cynical, closed-off, lonely bookseller, old at the age of 39, and I adored him from chapter one. I love books devoted to books and the people who love them, so The Storied Life and I were a match from the start.

State of Wonder by Ann Patchett – Adventure, exotic location, science, love and ethics all collide to create an enthralling, thought-provoking tale.

Serena by Ron Rash – In a thriving Depression Era timber camp, Pemberton and his new bride Serena rule the land. This is the slash and burn days of timber operations, and a callous disregard for all things living permeates their story. The land, animals, people and law all fall victim to Serena’s lust for dominance. I was captivated by the storytelling, intrigued by the characters (as unlikeable as they are) and still find myself mulling over the issues and themes evoked in the story.

Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks – The narrator of this tale is the imaginary friend of a boy on the spectrum.  I love the characters and their touching story.
