What did we do before we had the internet available to us? We now have infinite sources of inspiration and examples to fuel our own creativity.

I wanted to change it up a little bit this week and offer a few back to school photography tips to go along with some kit ideas. So of course, I went prowling the internet spying tutorials and pretty Pinterest images to share with you.

Let me show you what I’ve found: (I’ve tried to credit the images and tutorials so that you can go and see ALL of their tips!)

What a great idea! This could be a scrapbook page in itself, capturing a little bit of what’s happening right at the beginning of school. What fun would this be to see several years of these in your child’s album!

Progression photos are a surefire favorite for most of us. It might be the same spot in front of your home, at your front door, in front of the bus, in front of the school sign, with their siblings. A collection of these showing year after year would be great title pages for a child’s album, art for the walls of your home or gifts for the grandparents.

Here’s a different take on the progression photo:

Don’t forget to get a shot of your elementary school child’s teacher. They can be such an important part of a child’s life. It’s fun for them to look back at the end of the year and maybe even years later. I mean can’t you remember at least one teacher that really affected your life?

Hope this helps a little with your next back to school photos!
