Clean and Organized Scrapbook Pages

Erin shows us beautiful inspiration for clean and organized scrapbook pages

Hello Sweet Shoppers! I hope you have all enjoyed these past few weeks of cleaning and organization! I’m here today to talk about clean & organized scrapbook pages—the simple, neat, orderly style—which I hope will inspire you to create your own clean pages!

I asked the staff to share with me layout artists that they felt created amazing clean and organized pages. And the artists are truly amazing!

Dana loves Majda’s gallery. She especially loves how Majda can use a Cindy template but turn it into her own style.

Right away, Rebecca thought of Celeste and Zora.

Ru thought Rachel created pages that fall under the clean and organized category:

Jacinda loved the pages created by Kateypie:

And, I think Jacinda is a great example of a clean page artist. And she rocks the templates by Janet:

Looking at all the above pages, you may be wondering what makes up an organized page. I really think that “clean and organized” is in the eyes of the beholder. But one thing is consistent, the layout artists are expressing their stories through amazing pages that their families will love forever!

Scrap That Technology!

Brook gives us some great inspiration for scrapping about the technology we use everyday

Most of us live our daily lives immersed in some kind of technology. Our smartphones, computers, tablets, and other devices are commonly used as a way to interact and connect with others. It’s a big part of how we stay in touch and communicate with friends and family throughout the day. We share some of our biggest life events and news on Facebook, email photos to the grandparents, and meet up for conversation with friends on our favorite message boards. Some of our best laughs might have happened while browsing Pinterest or chatting. And, the comments people have left on photos we’ve shared are something we might not want to forget. So, why not take a picture, screen capture it, or copy it and make this technology a bigger part of your memory keeping?

If you’ve never thought of including screen shots or photos of the way technology plays into your life, why not try it? This page below was the first time I attempted to show how we shared a beautiful moment at the lake with my husband, who was still sitting at his desk . . . working late. This layout has become one of my favorites. It’s kind of sad my husband wasn’t there with us, but it really speaks to our lives at the time. This is how it was. And, someday I’ll look back on that photo of our text messages and be in awe that we actually communicated that way. We got to “talk” and share a picture of the beautiful sky at that very moment. It’s awesome compared to how this moment would have played out 10 years ago. Life changes so fast. Who knows what the future will hold? Why not give future generations a glimpse at how we do things right now?

Here are more fantastic examples of how technology can be a great addition to your scrapbook pages:

Have you ever done a layout with technology/communication as the subject or included a bit of it on your page? Like a photo or screenshot of text convos, FB updates, chats, etc.? Or even just used a text message or FB status as the journaling or title of your page? Please feel free to link us up to your pages in the comments here or add them to our discussion on the forums: How Do You Scrap Technology?.

Happy scrapping!

It’s All About Love!

Darla inspires us with layouts about LOVE

Hi everyone! It’s me, Darla! I am a self-acknowledged romance lover. I get giddy when my husband leaves little love notes for me or gives me a kiss unexpectedly. I can watch romance movies over and over and cry when the girl gets her man. I mean, who isn’t sitting there anxiously waiting for Tom Hanks to see Meg Ryan waiting at the top of the Empire State building in the movie “Sleepless in Seattle?” And don’t get me started on “The Notebook!” I love mushy cards and flowers picked from our garden. And, mostly I love it when I see boys that my daughter meets shower her with romance too, as I shared in this layout:

My mom says I have always had “my head in the clouds.” And, while some may disagree, I seriously don’t think that is a bad place to be in life. :) So today’s post is all about love and mushy stuff through the eyes of our SugarBabes. Hope you enjoy!

When you think of love, generally the first thing that comes to mind are weddings. From the moment the bride walks down the aisle to the beautiful dresses everyone wears and, of course, the party afterwards celebrating the new couple. Here are some beautiful layouts I found in our gallery created by the team:

Of course, as life goes on, the happy couple celebrates their anniversary in their own unique ways. Here are a few layouts I found which celebrate these exciting milestones:

But, don’t forget about the romance shown in every day life. You know, those unexpected things that make you smile when you think about your loved ones. Here are some examples I found of couple romance:

Now that you have seen all these gorgeous layouts about love, I hope you are inspired to create a layout of your own! Happy scrapping!

As we make our way through the month exploring the different types of journeys in our life, I thought I would give you some title suggestions for these type of layouts. Song titles are always a good start for a layout title. So, with a little help from Steve Perry and the rest of the band Journey, off their Greatest Hits album . . . here’s a little list.

  • Only the Young: Growing up, childhood memories, decisions you made as a youngster that made you who you are
  • Don’t Stop Believin’: Finding your religion, trying to conceive, looking for Mr. Right
  • Faithfully: Life as a married couple, teaching your children about your church
  • Any Way You Want It: Discovering yourself and what you want in life
  • Ask the Lonely: Figuring out how to live alone, dating dilemmas
  • Separate Ways: The trials of a divorce, leaving home for the first time, moving away from family/hometown
  • Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’: First loves, new romance, bringing a baby into the world
  • Open Arms: Grandparenting, love for your child or spouse
  • Girl Can’t Help It: Addictions (food, shopping, etc.)
  • Be Good to Yourself: Learning to love yourself, lifestyle changes
  • When You Love a Woman: Life with your significant other, your relationship with your mother

I hope some of these might help you come up with your next title!

Six Years Old – Documenting Birthdays

Hi everyone!  Today is my oldest daughter’s sixth birthday!  She woke up bright and early so that she could see her presents, and was super excited to get a new watch (an aqua Swatch that she picked out the other day in the airport Swatch store).  One of my favorite things about birthdays is to create layouts that either list out favorite things at a specific point in time – or compare ‘then and now’. It is SO fun to look back on these pages and see the differences, even one year later! I make them not only for the kids’ birthdays, but also for myself – and they are some of my favorite layouts each year.  I am not the only one with this idea, of course – so here is some scrapping inspiration for you to create this type of layout for yourself :)

Thinking Outside The Box – Cut out!

Hello, hello Sweet people! Rúbia is here! That is my first time on SSD blog and I’m so excited! And scared! hehehe :D

Well, as you may have noticed, I like to think a little ouside the box once in a while (lol) and this post is to help you get inspired and come with me to the fun side! :D

If you follow me on Pinterest, you already know that I LOVE to post some real scrapbooking page! I really like to see everything that you normally use on digiscrap being used on real scrap. I like to see shadows and see different types of work… anyway! Today I’m bringing to you a little bit of inspiration using something that I love: paper cut!

You will see that sometimes a little cut out and you’re doing a great detail to your page! And details matter when you’re working with your memories, right? ;) You can try to use the “polygonal lasso tool” to cut some different spaces, or you can use the shapes or circles or squares… Maybe can try to do something with your title work… There are SO many possibilities! And here I’m to show you some… ;)

Here you can see some samples of big papers being cut!

Perfect Portfolio Pages

Hi everyone!  It’s Dana here today – and I thought I would do a gallery standouts type post today and show you all some of my favorite pages made for this month’s Pinterest portfolio.  I had a great time looking through the September portfolio thread and seeing all the wonderful pages that have been made so far this month – if you haven’t checked out that thread in a while you definitely should!

It was difficult to pick my favorites – So I limited myself to only five so that I would have to make some decisions!  And here they are :)  I hope you love them as much as I do!  I’ve linked them all to the galleries so that you can leave some love, too.

The Day I Said Goodbye by newfiemountiewife:  This page is just gorgeous, and her journaling is so powerful.  Just amazing!

Nature Walk by kim21673: I think this page uses this kit so perfectly! I just love all the little details, there’s so much to see!

Back 2 School by sirscrapalot: This page is just lots and lots of fun! Aaron rocked the mix of patterns/colors to really show off the kit and template – as well as his cute kiddos!

Growing Up by kscwgirl:  There’s something just fab about this page – the patterned background is great and i love the use of the then/now arrows with the dates!

Forever and a Day by Gemma: I love a good photo-less page, and this one is WONDERFUL!  I love all the papers, the gorgeous clusters, and the way that Gemma used so much word art.

and I actually have to add one more!  Golden Afternoon by hollyxann:  These pictures are jut too adorable!!
