Janet Phillips

Where do you call home?

After living for Asia for ten years, we are officially calling North Carolina home.

Tell us a little about your family…

I am a very happy mama to six amazing kids…Alaina, Caleb, Levi, Katie, Bethany, and Zachary. Six kids born in four different countries! They range in ages from 4-15. We also have two dogs and a cat (and they pretty much run the house.)

My husband I have traveled many places and have lived in many locations including India, Malaysia,
Indonesia, Michigan, Indiana, Colorado, Nebraska, Florida, and North Carolina. In fact, we’ve been married for 18 years and have lived in 20 houses!

When did you join Sweet Shoppe Designs & what’s your favorite thing about being a member of the team?

I joined SSD way back in 2009 and was here until the end of 2014. After a break for a few years,
I am finally home again!

How long have you been designing?

I have been designing templates since September of 2006! I’m fairly new to designing kits, but
have been working on developing my skills since early 2016.

What inspires you?

Everything inspires me! My family, photography, cooking, and BOOKS! But if I had to choose just one thing, I would say nature. When I get outside, especially with a camera in hand, I feel like I can breathe and enjoy the moment.

Tell us a little bit about your design process…

I am completely devoted to telling stories. So when I design, I do so in a way that what I create will be a help to me and to others to tell the stories of their lives.

What is something we may not know about you?

I’m an unusual introvert. I desperately need time alone, but I love to talk and am quick on my feet. However, I can’t stand mingling or big parties, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE public speaking and could do it all day!
