July is upon us and we're in the thick of the warm Summer weather here in the States. It's a great time to get out and play with the kids, see some new places as you travel on vacations, and make new memories for your scrapbooks! This month, an old friend is providing inspiration for your favorite family memories and beyond. Former SugarBabe, Kellie Fite-Turner, is back as our Treat of the month. Better known in the community as joelsgirl, we know you are going to love looking through her gallery as it is absolutely packed with inspiration!

Kellie lives in Malaysia and shoots a slew of photos with her trusty point and shoot camera! She creates her pages using Photoshop Elements. Looking through her gallery, we were immediately struck by how many photos Kellie gets on a page. Her gallery is without a doubt a great source of inspiration for multi-photo layouts! Every page tells a story, and what's fun about Kellie's work is that many times she manages to tell those stories with very few words. Kellie is a scrapper who embraces the mantra "a picture says a 1000 words" as her photos take center stage in every one of her layouts. She also embraces color. Her gallery is whismical and pops with eye candy from every direction which is something we love here at SSD. Kellie's beautiful gallery paired with her warm, feisty personality makes us smile around here, so we really hope you enjoy getting to know more about her! Have fun scrapping!

Sweet Shoppe Designs: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.

Kellie Turner: I grew up in Arkansas, but when Joel & I met in college, the great adventure began. We lived in New Orleans for two years, where I taught elementary school, and then we moved to Indonesia, where I taught English. From there we moved to paradise (Malaysia), where Joel works as a tourism consultant and I am a SAHM to Jack, 4, and Max, 22 months. I miss Target, Velveeta cheese & my family, but I love my helper, the constant state of summer and living without the pressures of the American rat race.

SSD: What's your scrapping story? How did you begin?

KT: I made my first album in 8th grade; I got this big Precious Moments "scrapbook" from Hallmark & filled it with pictures of my friends & newspaper clippings. All through school, I would take my camera to class to take "everyday" photos of my friends, and I filled lots of scrapbooks with those kinds of pictures before I went digital in 2004. I kept getting annoyed seeing those computer generated layouts in the gallery at 2Peas, but once I realized that I, too, could make those digital pages, I was hooked! I tried making Jack's 1st year album in paper, since I had collected so many paper supplies, but once you get used to pressing undo, it is hard to put scissors to that beautiful paper!

SSD: Do you have any tips for scrappers on the best way to record big events?

KT: Don't put it off! At least journal about it immediately afterwards, or you will forget little details. If you are scrapping an old event, get someone else to tell you HIS/HER memories from that event; it might remind you of something you forgot or even tell you something you didn't know.

SSD: What's your favorite thing about digital scrapbooking?

KT: Ctrl+G. I love me some clipping mask! It is so non-commital.

SSD: Tell us about your scrapping environment. What's your workspace like, do you listen to music, watch tv?

KT: I scrap best when it is totally quiet and when it is not the morning.

SSD: Do you print your layouts or have them bound to show friends and family?

KT: Yes. I don't make layouts that I wouldn't want to print, and I love that I can make a second book for my parents just buy adding another one to my cart!

SSD: Have you ever swayed anyone to join the digital scrapbooking community?

KT: No. To be honest, I would feel so responsible for her new addiction, almost as if it were MY fault her kids were being ignored, dinner wasn't getting cooked, the house was dirty, etc.

SSD: If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one designer's products with you, whose would you choose and why?

KT: This is very hard for me. I would be hard pressed to choose between the Shabby Princess & Dani Mogstad.

SSD: If you could choose one scrapper to scrap a page for you, who would you choose and why?

KT: No. Way. I could not pick between Dani Mogstad and Cindy Schneider. I would have to put their names in a hat and draw to decide between the two of them. And if it was a sentimental page, I might like Sara (Scarletsierra) or Katrina (twentytinytoes) to make me one of those breathtakingly beautiful pages that they are so good at.

SSD: What's your all-time favorite layout? Why?

KT: Your Happy Place - I really love this one because these are some of my most favorite photos I have ever taken. I love the relationship my son Jack has with my parents, and I feel like this layout really shows how happy he is with them.

SSD: Do you have a favorite snack you keep handy while you scrap?

KT: I hate eating. It is such a pain. Plus, if there is food out, my son Max takes it, so I don't snack.

Sweet Shoppe Designs also asked Kellie to share some of her favorite creations with our visitors. It's fascinating to look through someone's gallery with our own eyes but seeing what an artist particularly enjoys from her own collection is always intriguing...

If you would like to see more of Kellie's amazing work, be sure to visit her My Scrapbook Art Gallery where you'll find her breathtaking collection of inspiring pages. It's been such a pleasure to see the fabulous layouts our SugarBabes have created after spending some time looking through her gallery and you'll be able to take a closer look at their gorgeous pages each time you visit as they'll be featured throughout the month on our homepage!

Finally, don't forget to Scrap with our SugarBabes the entire month of July by picking out a layout you want to lift from Kellie's gallery! Once you're done, be sure to post in our special challenge thread for the first of the month so you earn points toward Sweet Rewards. You also won't want to miss our monthly TOTM quiz hosted by Sugarbabe Shannon for your chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the shoppe! Thanks for sharing yourself and your beautiful work with us Kellie, it was such a treat getting to know one of our favorite scrappers better!
