March is upon us... Are you feeling lucky? After such an amazing birthday party, we sure are! Thank you so much for helping us celebrate, you really made us feel the love. One thing is for certain, we have the best customers in all of digi-land! While we may be biased, we think we also bring you some of the best inspiration for making the most of your scrapping time, and a big part of that is our fabulous Treat of the Month feature. This month, we are so excited to put Rubia Padilha's work in the spotlight because her eclectic and eye catching style is sure to inspire you to think outside the box in your own pages.

Rubia lives close to Sao Paulo City in Brazil with her husband, and she has been scrapbooking since 2006. While she currently uses a Canon to take her snapshots of life, these days she's dreaming of a Nikon upgrade! Rubia began scrapbooking using PaintShopPro, but now scraps all of her layouts in Adobe Photoshop CS3. Just looking at the mini gallery of Rubia's work on this page you can't help but notice what a fun and funky style she has, and these layouts are the just beginning of her amazing collection of work.

Rubia loves color and whimsy, and we think the collaged mish mashed feel of her pages really show the hand of an artist at work. We love the fun and funky typography on her pages, the snips of paper, bits of elements, doodled lines and arrows, and most of all we love that most of Rubia's pages are created in her native language. Even without being able to read every word, her layouts say so much - which is a really inspiring thing. To be able to communicate a memory so beautifully to people all around the world using images, color, elements and artistic expression takes a truly talented soul. We adore Rubia's gallery, and really hope you enjoy getting to know her a little better this month...

Sweet Shoppe Designs: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.

Rubia Padilha: Well, I am 31 years old. I'm married and I don't have children yet, but I already know what their names will be when I do: Maria Eduarda and Pedro! I don't work, at least, not outside the my home! I live away from my family and I have 2 nephews who I miss a lot! I like to write and I write "well"! My favorite colors are red, black and white! And my favorite songs are the brazilian ones! My english is horrible! lol I believe I'm a great friend! And, for me, sincerity and respect are essential in any relationship.

SSD: What's your scrapping story? How did you begin?

RP: I started because a friend showed me few pages and we arranged to learn together. Today I make the pages for her! I've been on some creative teams, and in less than one year, I've started to sell my own templates!

SSD: What's your favorite thing about digital scrapbooking?

RP: I think my favorite pages are those that have a style as a "paper scrap" and, because of that, I prefer kits, elements, alphas that could be use as in a "paper scrap".

SSD: Tell us about your scrapping environment. What's your workspace like, do you listen to music, watch tv?

RP: I'm always in my "office"! Except for needing some kind of background noise, I don't have a rule. Sometimes I listen to music and other times, I listen to the tv.

SSD: How would you describe your scrapbooking style? Do you have a favorite "go to element/brush" that you find yourself using on your layouts from time to time?

RP: I really think I don't have a unique style! Sometimes my pages are so colorful and fun...and sometimes, I just put a background paper, one photo, a big title and that's it! lol Normally, I prefer my pages with more details with two or three differents alphas, journaling and a lot of photos! I think, this is my style!

SSD: If you could choose one scrapper to scrap a page for you, who would you choose and why?

RP: OMG!! What a hard decision! lol Only one?? Omg!! Well... If I really have to choose only one, I have to choose Cherry! I really love how she works with small photos and so many details! :)

SSD: What's your all-time favorite layout? Why?

RP: From me, my favorite layout is "7 Years Together" because I love the photos and the color combination along with the cool composition with big alphas!

My favorite layout that I did not create is "Go Get 'Em" by Emily Merritt. It is so colorful with touches of pen, and SO cool! I love layouts that are created by her.

SSD: Where do you find inspiration to create your layouts - is there a particular blog or magazine that you read? Or does a particular kit or photo help inspire you to create your pages?

RP: I find inspiration in everything!! I look at many galleries, the Gallery Standouts Blog, and when I make pages for the creative teams I am on, I try find a photo or idea that coordinates with the kit! Otherwise, I try to put together things I like from different ideas I've seen. Mostly I just let go!

SSD: What do you like to do when you aren't scrapping? Do you have any other hobbies you like to do?

RP: When I'm am not scrapping, I enjoy time with my husband or friends. I also enjoy my favorite TV shows or reading or traveling.

SSD: If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one designer's products with you, whose would you choose and why?

RP: I would have to choose a kit from Emily Merritt! She creates beautiful papers like no one else! And I enjoy kits that always have one button or one stitch pattern - these make me happy for awhile!.

SSD: Do you have a favorite snack you keep handy while you scrap?

RP: Although I usually forget to eat, we have something here we call "bisnaguinha". They're little breads, like as used in hot dog! So, I always eat "bisnaguinha" with juice!.

SSD: Just a for fun kind of question - March 5th is stop the clocks day. Is there a particular moment in your life that you would freeze time for if you could? For example, the birth of a child, the day you won something or fell in love for the first time? And if so, what would it be and why?

RP: Yes! if this would happen (and I hope it doesn't! lol) I would freeze my wedding day! Everyone that I love most was there with the exceptions of my nephews who were not born yet!

Sweet Shoppe Designs also asked Rubia to share some of her favorite creations with our visitors. It's fascinating to look through someone's gallery with our own eyes but seeing what an artist particularly enjoys from her own collection is always intriguing...

If you would like to see more of Rubia's gorgeous layouts, be sure to visit her My Scrapbook Art Gallery where you'll find her amazing collection of inspiring pages. It's been such a pleasure to see the fabulous layouts our SugarBabes have created after spending some time looking through her gallery, and you'll be able to take a closer look at their beautiful pages each time you visit as they'll be featured throughout the month on our homepage!

Finally, creating a lift of a page from Rubia's gallery is the very first task in this month's challenge portfolio challenge! Scrap along with our community as we create a meaningful monthly portfolio and earn points towards sweet rewards while you're doing it too! Thanks for sharing yourself and your beautiful work with us Rubia, it was such a treat getting to know one of our favorite scrappers better!
