Hello Sweetshoppers!! This is Sugi here and I’m going to talk to you about something I am thankful for.<\/p>\n
“I Don’t Want To” may sound like any preschoolers stock phrase. And when it comes out of your little one just a few minutes before school it makes you wonder what is going on? As a 3 year old preschooler my son, Nikkhil disliked going to school. Nearly every morning before school, he would cry and do anything possible to stay home. He\u2019ll whine on and on about how boring the school is and how much he hated going there. When we talked to his teachers we got\u00a0very worrying feedbacks. They were concerned about his lack of interest and concentration. I was crushed. It was like they were talking about a totally different child because away from school he is happy, well behaved, intelligent, creative and very social.<\/p>\n
We are not goal oriented parents and more than being successful I wanted my child to be nice and kind with a positive attitude. So when i was talking to a friend who is also a trained Montessori teacher i really got thinking maybe he needs a different approach. I bought some home schooling materials and started doing it at home with Nikki. He stopped complaining and developed a love for learning. We pulled him out of the pre-school and let him stay home for a while. I realized the rigorous structure and routine that a more conventional preschool offered was not for him.<\/p>\n
After a few open houses\u00a0we went to a\u00a0 school for a meet and greet session and liked the staff and their approach. My son seemed to have a good time and he said he liked it there. In fact he wanted to start right away. Now at 5 he is a Kindergartener there and is given a leadership profile. I can see the progress he has made in a year and we are amazed. He loves going to school now and is well liked by his teachers and friends and is way ahead of his peers. He is also independent and confident, although sometimes over- confident:) So today I am very grateful that we finally found the right school for our son which allows him to be a child for a little longer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
