Just The Basics<\/span><\/h2>\n

Do you have a nickname?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes! My \u201creal\u201d name is Penelope, but my family and friends have always\u00a0called me Penny or Nel.<\/p>\n

Do you have any pets?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, we have a wonderful brindled dog named Gary. She (yes, she) was\u00a0named by the boys after Sponge Bob\u2019s Snail. We got her two years ago\u00a0at the local animal shelter, and she is smart, loving, and loyal.<\/p>\n

Describe your perfect pizza toppings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a veggie lover so my perfect pizza must have tons of veggies. My\u00a0favorites are tomatoes, black olives, green peppers, mushrooms, and\u00a0banana peppers.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the weather like right now?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Freezing! We\u2019ve had an unusually mild winter like most of the US, but\u00a0today winter has decided to visit us. The high today is 25!<\/p>\n

Coke or Pepsi?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coke Zero!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite food?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chicken fajitas made at home.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite guilty pleasure?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Homemade ice cream.<\/p>\n

Do you wear glasses or contacts?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contacts. I would wear my glasses, but they are 7 years old and ugly!<\/p>\n

CDs or MP3s?<\/strong><\/p>\n

MP3s all the way! We started putting our CDs on our computer way\u00a0before you could purchase MP3s online. I enjoy creating playlists and\u00a0taking my tunes with me wherever I go. All of our CDs are in a huge\u00a0Rubbermaid container in the guest bedroom closet. I can\u2019t remember the\u00a0last physical CD I purchased. It has to be over 10 years ago!<\/p>\n

Paper or Plastic?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Neither. I bring my own bags!<\/p>\n

Inside The Artist’s Studio<\/span><\/h2>\n

When and how did you get started as a digital designer?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I began digital scrapbooking in 2003 after my eldest son was born.\u00a0From the beginning I made a lot of my own papers and elements, but I\u00a0swore I would NEVER become a designer. Well, obviously that didn\u2019t\u00a0last and I began selling my designs in the summer of 2006. I bounced\u00a0around at a few stores before landing here in November of 2007.<\/p>\n

Is there a website that you can always count on to inspire you in some way?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can lose myself for hours in Pintrest. It\u2019s such a fabulous spot for\u00a0inspiration. My problem is that something totally unrelated to work\u00a0will catch my eye, like recipes, and before I know it 30 minutes will\u00a0have flown by and I can\u2019t remember why I went to Pinterest in the\u00a0first place!<\/p>\n

What is your “home office” or work environment like? Describe it\u00a0or share a picture.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My work area is in the loft above the hearth room. \u00a0We have a built-in\u00a0computer counter and cabinets with space for two work stations. My\u00a0husband takes up the left space and I\u2019m on the right. \u00a0My husband just\u00a0built me a new computer last week. It has an Intel 3.4 GHz processor,\u00a016 GB of RAM, and two monitors. The dual monitor set-up is fabulous!<\/p>\n

Do you have a design checklist of things you feel must be included\u00a0in a kit or accomplished before you think it’s done?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each kit is different, but yes, I do create a list for each one. I\u00a0find writing a list helps me keep focused. If I don\u2019t have a list, I\u00a0tend to waste a lot of time.<\/p>\n

What’s your favorite thing about being a digital scrapbook designer?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s is definitely all of the wonderful people I\u2019ve met. Digi Scrappers rock!<\/p>\n

Food For Thought<\/span><\/h2>\n

What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This past weekend I ran 10 miles. Granted it was a slow ten miles, but\u00a0I would NEVER have thought I could run this far a year ago.<\/p>\n

How do you define success?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson sums up how I feel, \u201cTo laugh often\u00a0and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection\u00a0of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure\u00a0the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best\u00a0in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child,\u00a0a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one\u00a0life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have\u00a0succeeded.\u201d<\/p>\n

What made you smile this week?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This card was given to my son by a girl in his class. It\u2019s just too cute.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite smell?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rain on pavement and fresh cut grass<\/p>\n

What lifts your spirits when life gets you down?<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are a few things I do to raise my spirits when I feel down: I\u00a0crank up the tunes and sing along, I get moving, or I go hang with my\u00a0kiddos.
