<\/a>As a pre-teen and a teenager, I was not very appreciative of my mom. I always knew I was a daddy’s girl but my relationship with my mom was quite different. Now that I am older, I am regretful about some of the things that I remember saying to her. All kids have growing pains, right? <\/span><\/p>\nI will say that I am glad that I grew up and understand life in a much better\u00a0<\/span>way. I am grateful for my mother. She has survived a battle of breast cancer and other medical conditions. I was afraid that I may not get the chance to express to her how I really felt about her. It took some time before I could understand her and why she would say some things to us. I realize now that it was her way of caring and preparing us for the world. She is where I get my strength and my attitude about life. After college, I started working and living about an hour away from my parents. I would call my mom to talk every day on my way to work. It did not matter what we talked about; it was just good to hear her voice and see how she was doing. Now if she does not call me at least once a day or vice versa, one of us is calling the other to see what is going on. I love how we can talk and she understands me without me even saying what I mean. I never thought she “got me,” but she did . . . she does.
