Time for another scissors and glue installment of Hot 4 Hybrid Wednesdays! Are you ready?

With Mother’s Day coming this weekend, I thought I’d show you a super cute and simple way to present your gifts to mom. All you need is some paper and a medium sized bag of some sort.

Here’s my project:

I used Lauren Grier’s new Perfect Pair with Jennifer Barrette, “A Day Like Today”. I used a large glassine bag (which is basically a bag made of wax paper). You can find similar treat bags at the craft stores in the candy making sections, or you can even use a paper bag. My example shows chocolate covered pretzels, but you can put anything inside. Perhaps some homemade bath salts, or a set of note cards, or even a notebook. It’s so easy to create custom packaging for your presents, and you can’t ignore the wow factor! Something like this really says that you care about the gift receiver, and it’s just as fast as wrapping up a box in wrapping paper. This project took me about 15 minutes in total. From printing, to cutting, to assembling, and finishing.

Here’s a fun little tip for getting some extra dimension on those flowers too. Print and cut out 2 of them, then take 1 flower and curl the petals around your finger. Try not to fold them to get distinct lines, just roll of over your finger a few times (people also round them around pencils too I’ve heard), then adhere the center to the center of the second, unrolled flower. Ta-Da! Dimensional flowers! Here’s a closer at the bigger ones on the gift bag, which I just LOVE!

I also took a few extra seconds to round up the little scalloped edge on that patterned paper too. It’s the little details like this that can really make a project!

I hope you’re inspired to try something a little different for your Mother’s Day gifts this year. Come back and link us up if you’re inspired to give this a try!

Until next time,

~Col

Hey hey Sweet Shoppers!
