Happy Monday, everyone! We only have one week until Christmas. Can you believe it?! Are you ready? Well, I’m here to\u00a0some fun into your day. And, it might just help you get ready for the big day as well!<\/p>\n

Today is Bake Cookies Day!!<\/p>\n

Cookies arrived in America in the 17th century, although the word arrived much later with the Dutch in its original form of \u201ckoekje,\u201d meaning \u201clittle cake.”\u00a0From fruit filled cookies to the simple but delectable sugar cookie (Yep, got a sugar cookie fixation, tis the season!), these \u201clittle cakes\u201d are simply the most amazing thing to come out of an oven since bread. Every year people get together to celebrate Bake Cookies Day by baking dozens of cookies for charity drives, orphanages, and generally bringing joy to family and friends everywhere.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

One of the most beloved Christmas traditions is leaving cookies and milk for Santa Claus. So, in honor of Bake Cookies Day,\u00a0why not make a practice batch to make sure the cookies you leave for Santa will be the best they can be? Then, share your cookies with friends and family (or eat them all yourself–I’m not judging). If you need a recipe, feel free to try this one<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Sugar Cookie Recipe<\/em><\/strong>
\n1 \u00bd cups powdered sugar
\n1 cup butter or margarine, softened
\n\u00bd tsp almond extract
\n1 egg
\n2 \u00bd cups all-purpose flour
\n1 tsp baking soda
\n1 tsp cream of tartar<\/p>\n

Mix together the powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract, and egg in a large bowl. Stir in the rest once this is blended. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F, divide the dough in half, roll out to a \u00bc\u201d thick sheet. Apply cookie cutters to get desired shape, and bake for 7\u20138 minutes until the edges are light brown.<\/p>\n
