That means family gatherings, potluck dinners, church socials and other events where you need to &#8220;bring a dish&#8221;. I&#8217;ve gathered up a few recipes from The Sweet Shoppe staff just in case you want to try something new this year. (8 oz.)\u00a0<span class=\"name\">cream cheese, at room temperature<\/span><\/li>\n<li>1 cup\u00a0<span class=\"name\">powdered sugar, sifted<\/span><\/li>\n<li>6 tablespoons\u00a0<span class=\"name\">butter or margarine, softened<\/span><\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon\u00a0<span class=\"name\">vanilla extract<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"name\">Powdered sugar (optional for decoration)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"recipe-instructions__header clearfix uppercase margin-bottom\">\n<h2 class=\"recipe-instructions__heading light\" data-min-font-size=\"24px\">INSTRUCTIONS<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"recipe-instructions__content\" data-min-font-size=\"16px\"><b>FOR CAKE:<br \/>\nPREHEAT<\/b>\u00a0oven to 375\u00b0 F. Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan; line with wax paper. Grease and flour paper. Sprinkle a thin, cotton kitchen towel with powdered sugar.<b>COMBINE<\/b>\u00a0flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt in small bowl. Beat eggs and granulated sugar in large mixer bowl until thick. Beat in pumpkin. Stir in flour mixture. Spread evenly into prepared pan. Sprinkle with nuts.<\/p>\n<p><b>BAKE<\/b>\u00a0for 13 to 15 minutes or until top of cake springs back when touched. (If using a dark-colored pan, begin checking for doneness at 11 minutes.) Immediately loosen and turn cake onto prepared towel. Carefully peel off paper. Roll up cake and towel together, starting with narrow end. Cool on wire rack.<\/p>\n<p><b>FOR FILLING:<br \/>\nBEAT<\/b>\u00a0cream cheese, 1 cup powdered sugar, butter and vanilla extract in small mixer bowl until smooth. Carefully unroll cake. Spread cream cheese mixture over cake. Reroll cake. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least one hour. You may need to add a bit more or a bit less powered sugar. You have enough powered sugar when the mixture holds together well in one giant ball in your mixing bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Cover and let sit in the refrigerator for 15 &#8211; 25 minutes until they firm up. (You can also cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 2 days.)<\/p>\n<p>Shape the dough into 1-inch balls.Cover and refrigerate again, for about 15 &#8211; 20 minutes. Skipping this step makes the dough very hard to dip into the chocolate.<\/p>\n<p>Melt the chocolate according to the package directions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-section\">\n<p>Dip the peanut butter balls one at a time into the melted chocolate. Let the excess chocolate drip off, as the chocolate will pool a little when you set it down. Place the dipped peanut butter chocolate ball onto wax paper and let it harden.<\/p>\n<p>Chill until ready to serve. Also chill them a little before packaging them up for gifts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"blog-yumprint-note-section\">\n<div class=\"blog-yumprint-subheader\"><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The peanut butter ball dough can be stored, tightly sealed, in the refrigerator for up to 2 days before dipping in chocolate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">And a favorite from MY family, (our friend) <strong>Ken&#8217;s Spiced Cider<\/strong>:<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\"><\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-51802\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sweetshoppedesigns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/20141129-DSC_0033.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sweetshoppedesigns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/20141129-DSC_0033.jpg 399w, https:\/\/www.sweetshoppedesigns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/20141129-DSC_0033-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\"><\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">\n<h2 class=\"uppercase padding-bottom border-dotted--bottom border--gray light\" data-min-font-size=\"24px\">INGREDIENTS<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">3 quarts apple cider<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">2 cups cranberry juice<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">1 cup light brown sugar<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">1 tsp orange peel<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">1\/2 tsp allspice<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">1\/8 tsp nutmeg<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">1\/4 tsp ground clove<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">3 cinnamon sticks<\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\"><\/div>\n<div data-min-font-size=\"16px\">If your family gathering is later in the day, start this early in your crockpot so that it has time to get hot enough. If not, warm on the stove and then put into your crockpot to keep it warm for people to keep serving themselves. Recipe <strong>can<\/strong> be doubled.
