I can’t even tell you when this obsession with trains started. Somewhere after his 1st birthday I think but I could be wrong.. I first learned about “Day out with Thomas” from our forums here at Sweet Shoppe Designs. I went to look at the schedule and found out that the Day out with Thomas would be coming to a city near me and jumped at the chance and bought tickets for our family to go on mother’s day.

My little guy is 3 years old and so while he didn’t quite understand the concept of it all he was VERY excited as the day grew closer and kept telling everyone that he was going to meet thomas (and stay in a hotel – he was pretty excited about that part also!)

So the day arrived and when we got to the city we were a bit bummed as it was a pretty cold and rainy day but it still turned out to be a really great day! My older daughter is 8 and wasn’t too sure about it all but she even had a fun time. When you first arrive (ours was at a heritage park) they give you a sheet to fill out to get stamped at about 4 different places and at the end of it they got to collect a little prize. It was a wheel that shows all the names of the trains. This is a HUGE hit with my son. He knows so many of the names. He was a late talker and a bit delayed but I can tell you that he new the names of the trains before he would say the names of some of our family members and close friends.. LOL!

There was a place to get their photo taken with Sir Topham Hatt and also Thomas the train… they had photographers there with a little digi cam but they said it was fine if I took pictures too. I was able to sneak in a shot when he got his picture taken with Sir Topham Hatt but it went too quick at Thomas the train so alas I did pay the *way overpriced* $14 for two 4×6’s because its not everyday he gets his picture taken with Thomas 😉

They of course also had a tent filled to the brim with Thomas Merchandise galore.. we weren’t sure we were going to be able to get Lucas out of there! We managed to escape the tent with our wallet only slightly emptied… *phew*

Here are a couple photos from our day!

If you want to see if Day out with Thomas is coming to your area continue to this website and you will find a schedule of where he will be: http://www.thomasstation.com/dowt/index.html

So is anyone else taken their child or have gone in the past??
