Colleen here with my little bit of bliss for the day. My husband and I are expecting our first child, and I am due February 29th, just 2 weeks after Libby! A potential leap year baby! Naturally, I’ve got all things baby on the brain as of late. Over the long holiday weekend, I finally chose the paint color for the nursery. I brought home 9403548390 paint chips, narrowed it down to 3 colors, and then went and got samples of those 3 so I could throw them up on the wall. Thankfully, my husband agreed to the color scheme and decided to let me do the rest, so I got to choose whatever color my heart desired. And my heart landed on Mermaid Treasure by Behr!

Picture it with white crown moulding and wainscotting (still trying to convince DH that board and batten or beadboard are the way to go), and then lots of red accents. Red frames, blankets, pillows, a cute little lamp to go beside the glider or rocking chair. I. Can’t. Wait! We’ve decided not to find out what we’re having, and I think this color scheme will work wonderfully for either a boy or a girl.

I also took advantage of a decent sale at Joann’s for the holiday and snagged a bunch of yarn to knit a baby blanket. I’m going to use a free knitting pattern by Lion Brand Yarn called “Checkers Baby Blanket”. I picked up yarn in 2 colors, so I’m going to make the border in teal, and the center part in red. Even if the baby hates it, it’ll look cute draped over a chair and I can use it as a lap blanket during those wonderful midnight feedings. I just wish I had picked up more yarn, because it doesn’t look like it’ll be near enough based on what I’ve used so far! Live and learn, right?

Other baby things on my mind? All the baby classes we’ll need to take, going for a tour of the hospital, figuring out a car seat and a stroller, deciding on nursery furniture, and figuring out where the heck we’re gonna PUT all this stuff! Lol! It feels like there is so so much to do, that must be why they give us 9 months to get it done!

I hope you’ve enjoyed a little look into my baby bliss. And if you’ve got any tips, tricks, or advice for me as a first time mom, feel free to leave them in the comments! Thanks for stopping by today, I’ll see you in the forums.

~Col

Hey everyone!
