Hi, it is Fee with you today!<\/p>\n

Today I wanted to share something special with you.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Recently my Mummy gave me a ring.<\/p>\n

I have no idea of its worth, or even exactly the type of stones in it.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Probably emeralds and rubies, maybe garnets?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Who knows?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And I really don\u2019t care because to me the ring is priceless.<\/p>\n

It is a family ring.<\/p>\n

Before me, my mother Barbara Murray wore it.<\/p>\n

Before her, my grandmother Flora Clapperton.<\/p>\n

Before that my great grandmother, Margaret Hood Keddie.<\/p>\n

And, the original owner of the ring was my great great grandmother Jane Johnstone who received it as an engagement ring in 1875.<\/p>\n

Imagine what this ring has seen.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I wear this ring every day just as my Great Great Grandmother would have.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Washing dishes, laundry, tending to children just as she would have.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I love that.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Of course\u2026I am using a dishwasher, washing machine, driving cars, using technology.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Things that would probably send Great Great Grandmother Jane\u2019s head into a spin.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0I love that this ring would have seen poopy baby bums for over 130 years.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Now that thought is funny!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Maybe its better that it cannot talk lol!<\/p>\n

I have been researching the family tree for over 10 years now.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I have found all sorts of great information, newspaper snippets, photos\u2026but nothing beats receiving a ring that women in my family wore before me.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The first time I put the ring on my finger it felt right.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 So the decision was made right there and then.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I was going to wear this ring every day.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This baby was not going to be in a box hidden away where it would be safe but never see the light of day.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is pretty cool that every day, every time I look at the ring; I am reminded of the women before me.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Without them, I would not be sitting here writing this.<\/p>\n

Next in line for the ring is my daughter Emily\u2026who knows what the ring will see during her lifetime.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Probably stuff that will make my head spin \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
