A new month means new goals & new challenges, and that includes our Baker\u2019s Dozen photography challenge here at the Sweet Shoppe. Here are thirteen new prompts to inspire your photography in the coming month:<\/p>\n

There’s lots of reasons to get dressed up during the month of May. Whether it’s for Mother’s Day, a special event like Prom, or a night out on the town, take a moment to capture a photograph of them in their finery.<\/p>\n

Mother<\/h2>\n

Though mothers should be celebrated every day of the year May is the month we mark Mother’s Day. Grab a shot of a mother in your life – whether it’s your own or someone else’s – and memorialize their love in a photograph.<\/p>\n

Memorial<\/h2>\n

Speaking of memorializing things, the end of May also marks the US holiday Memorial Day. How could you capture the idea of a memorial in photograph form?<\/p>\n

In My Bed<\/h2>\n

I had just made my bed when I turned around and discovered a furry interloper wasn’t quite ready to start his day yet. How will you interpret this prompt?<\/p>\n

A Pop of Color<\/h2>\n

May is the perfect month to find a pop of color – whether it’s a flower or a brightly-colored umbrella or a toddler’s spicy pair of tennis shoes, capture the moment – and the image – with your camera.<\/p>\n

Progress<\/h2>\n

There’s all kinds of progress we can find in our lives – whether it’s progress toward a personal goal or progress on a project, find a way to capture your progress in a photo this month.<\/p>\n

Bright<\/h2>\n

As the days become longer and longer, we have lots of opportunities to capture images filled with sunlight. I posed my granddaughter in front of a window to create backlight on her hair, and she gave me the biggest, brightest smile.<\/p>\n

Something I learned<\/h2>\n

What’s the last new thing you learned? I recently received the oh-so-generous gift of an embroidery machine, and have begun learning this new skill. Who knew there was so much to learn about machine embroidery?<\/p>\n

Small Detail<\/h2>\n

Here’s another chance for you to break out your macro lens or put your camera in close-up mode. Look around and capture one small detail today.<\/p>\n
