And in that spirit, let’s celebrate all the possibilities of a single digital scrapbook kit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s time for the June edition of “One Kit, Endless Possibilities”<\/em><\/strong> – where we give our creative team of Sugar Babes one digital kit and challenge them to use it in as many different ways as they can dream of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This month, we’re featuring the illustration-filled pop-art goodness of Laura Wilkerson<\/a>. It’s a brand-new kit she’ll be releasing for sale in the Shoppe this Friday, and this is your chance for a sneak-peek at Best Dad Ever<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n

In shades of royal blue, teal, and a deep golden yellow with pops of red and the lightest of pinks, this kit is filled with the hand-drawn illustrations we’ve come to know and love from Laura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As its title suggests, the elements and word art focus of this kit is on the theme of fathers and the types of hobbies many men enjoy, including woodworking, DIY, fishing, and gaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a standard kit that comes with a pack of patterned paper, a pack of elements, and one set of alphabet stickers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sugar Babes have 10 projects to share with you today, demonstrating a variety of different ways you can use this kit. Let’s take a look:<\/p>\n\n\n

Our first layout comes from Sugar Babe Eve and it is an on-theme<\/strong> use of the kit focused on a father<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I love the color combo of this kit,” says Eve. “It’s masculine yet has a soft colors in it … like we know all dads often look tough and rough on the outside but they become marshmallows when it comes to their children. There are a wide variety of doodle elements to scrap about all kinds of dads: the working dad or the handyman in the house or even the cool dad who plays games with the kids in their spare time.”<\/p>\n\n\n

Next up we have this layout by Sherly. It’s an off-theme<\/strong> use of the kit to create a masculine layout<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Making a non-father themed masculine layout using Laura’s kit was a breeze!” says Sherly. “So many elements to use, even the word strips, and they were perfect for scrapping about my son’s birthday. I love the happy and bright colour combo here too!”<\/p>\n\n\n

A great way you can use any kit no matter the subject of your layout is to match the colors of the kit to those in your photographs<\/strong>, like in this layout by Cassie. Check out what a perfect match the kit’s colors are to the flowers in her daughter’s dress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was really drawn to the bright happy colors in this collection,” says Cassie. “Laura always includes so many adorable doodled elements and fun patterned papers that it’s easy to use her kits for on themed OR off themed pages!”<\/p>\n\n\n

If you love lots of bits and bobs on your layouts, you can make great use this kit to create a cluster-heavy <\/strong>layout like Sugar Babe Mary. Her layout proves that floral and element clusters aren’t just for traditionally feminine layouts … you can use them for masculine ones, too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The flower clusters were my favorite part to work with,” says Mary, “layering them with the different embellishments in the kit it really brought the layout to life and made my husband’s photos pop. This kit has such a great mix of fun and sentimental pieces like the hearts and stars it was easy to tell his story while keeping the design playful!”<\/p>\n\n\n

If, on the other hand, you prefer a more minimalist <\/strong>approach to your layouts, you can use this kit like Sugar Babe Charlene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was thrilled when I saw the colors of this fun kit,” says Charlene, “for some of them matched the colors in my husband’s and son’s shirts. I decided to go with a large amount of white space (gray in this case) to make the picture and fun elements stand out.”<\/p>\n\n\n

“So many fun, doodly elements in this kit!” says Heather. “It was hard to choose which ones to use on this minimalist page. I love the fun color scheme as well. Great for all masculine pages!”<\/p>\n\n\n

Sugar Babe Rebecca opted for a pocket-style layout <\/strong>using a template from Pockets Full Page Drafts by The Nifty Pixel<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you use a pre-made pocket card or a pile of illustrated elements, there’s lots of goodies in this kit to help you fill those pockets. Be sure to check out the way Rebecca used layer masks to tuck that fishing rod inside the pocket while letting the fish hang outside and on top of the plastic layer. It gives this digital layout a truly dimensional look!<\/p>\n\n\n

Sugar Babe Krista used both the alphabet and a piece of word art from the kit to create this title-focused layout<\/strong>. When you’re ready to build a title for your layout, this is a great approach to take – especially when the word art included in the kit isn’t 100% exactly what you want to use for your title. Because all the elements in the kit are designed to work together, you can be sure the mix of alpha pieces and word art will look great.<\/p>\n\n\n

When it comes to maximizing the value you get from your digital scrapbook kits, Evelyn demonstrates a great approach: combine it with another kit <\/strong>to extend its use!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I love that Laura’s kit is so versatile,” says Evelyn, “and can be used for a wide variety of layouts such as Father’s Day, birthday, home repair etc. I used this kit in conjunction with a motorcycle themed kit,” – Happy Hobby: Motorcycling by Blagovesta Gosheva<\/a> – “to make a page about our trip to a motorcycle and car show. The tools in this kit were the perfect accents!”<\/p>\n\n\n

Our final project for today’s post comes for Jacinda and it’s a special treat: a hybrid non-scrapbooking project. <\/strong>Talk about getting extra use out of a digi-scrap kit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is considered a hybrid project because Jacinda used elements from the digital kit and her preferred digi-scrap software to design the pieces and parts before printing them on cardstock. (So it’s neither completely digital nor completely traditional card-making supplies.) Then she cut them out, scored the side and bottom panels, and used adhesive (including dimensional adhesive like pop-dots) to assemble a physical card for Father’s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
