The photo spot in these templates do include a gradient style layer that does require a program that has blend modes, however you can just turn the layers off and use the photo spots normally. Each template includes dimensional shadowing on separate layers so not only do they give your pages a more realistic feel, they are nifty for those of you that are strapped for time. Alternatively if preferred you can easily turn the shadow layers off and create your very own custom shadows to suit your needs and style.
