Where do you call home?
I’m a native Floridian living in Northwest Florida on the Gulf Coast.
Tell us a little about your family…
My husband Jay and I have been married for 30 years. We have two children, Olivia and Daniel. If you are new to the digital scrapbooking community, my daughter Olivia is also a designer here at Sweet Shoppe Designs (Studio Liv). Almost all of my family live in the same small area
When did you join Sweet Shoppe Designs & what’s your favorite thing about being a member of the team?
I joined Sweet Shoppe Designs as a community member in 2008, and I joined the team as a Sweet Shoppe Designer in August 2024. I’ve been creating layouts for quite a few Sweet Shoppe Designers for quite some time, so I knew some of the SSD Designers well. My favorite part about being a member of the team is that I’ve found that ALL the Designers here are not just extremely talented, but they are so much fun and they are, understandably, SWEET!
How long have you been designing?
Since February 2010.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired to create templates from my own creative process of making layouts. I’m also often inspired by music, movies, books, poetry, interior decorating, and cake decorating to name a few.
Tell us a little bit about your design process…
I create digital scrapbooking layouts, and usually one or more design elements on a page will influence me when I’m putting together my templates. I open up 4 separate canvases in Photoshop. Sometimes I will start with the design element that inspired me. Other times, I start building templates with photo spots or by adding paint or stamps. From that point, I continue adding until each template feels “just right.”
What is something we may not know about you?
I have a YouTube channel called Watch Cheryl Scrap, and I share my scrapbooking process through recorded videos or online live sessions. I love to decorate my home and keep a quiet and tranquil space for us to have as a retreat. I also love to make pen and ink drawings, as well as watercolor paintings. I adore reading, so you’ll usually find me on my phone, iPad, Kindle, or with an old school book, every single day, for at least thirty minutes. I’ve also been a cross stitcher since I was eleven years old. I love large cross stitch projects to work on over a period of months (or years).
