Where do you call home?
I have the best of both worlds! I was born and bred in Brooklyn, New York-and consider myself a city girl at heart- but, when I got married, I moved out to the Long Island NY area. I love it! I’m close to the beaches and wine vineyards- but a only train ride away from NYC!
Tell us a little about your family…
I fell in love with my Brooklyn neighborhood beat cop over 30 years ago – and only had to ask him out 3 times before he finally said yes. Yep. He’s still paying for that! Fast forward till today and we are living happily ever after with our two big-guy sons and crazy Sheepadoodle. Each rotates as my favorite guy on a random, yet regular basis.
When did you join Sweet Shoppe Designs & what’s your favorite thing about being a member of the team?
February 2025! I’ve always admired the amazing talent and energy at the shop- and am lucky to have called so many of the designers, babes and members here my friends! I’m really looking forward to this next chapter!
How long have you been designing?
I’ve been designing since 2010, when I semi-retired. I was fortunate enough to turn my long time scrapbooking hobby into a new career path and am so proud of the journey I’ve been on since then!
What inspires you?
If a moment stands out in my mind as a good one- one of those everyday little joys that make our stories sweeter- it will find its way onto my drawing board. So, you’ll find everything from crisp autumn days and Christmas magic or Halloween fun, to taco night, football games, Boy life to homelife all in my portfolio.
Tell us a little bit about your design process…
It starts with a theme- and then I collect a mood board- then step back and try and figure out- what’s the common thread- what colors? What words? Then- I work to find the right combination of patterns, colors, elements and words to make it a design that can be used to help spark or further a story.
What is something we may not know about you?
That’s a good one! I’ve never been one to feel like the chapter I’m in has to be a forever story. I think it’s great to have a life that evolves and changes and looks different over time. I think the only thing that should define you is your heart.
You might be surprised to learn that once upon a time- I’m a Criminal Attorney and worked in the Brooklyn DA’s office as a Prosecutor- and then, was a Public Defender I loved doing Criminal trials- and am so proud of that chapter. It really was amazing! But- there came a point I just wanted (needed?) to step back- I did a 180- and worked on creating a career out of the thing that made me most happy- memory keeping. I really believe you are never too old to be what you wanted to be when you grow up!
