Where do you call home?
I was born and raised Sacramento Valley in Northern California, but we transplanted to East Tennessee in 2017!
Tell us a little about your family…
Patrick and I met in 2003 when we lived across the hall from each other. It was my first apartment alone and I was throwing a desk that had broken down the stairs and he offered to help. Within 2 years we were married and had our first son, Karsten. Josiah came 20 months after Karsten and Finn 5 years after Josiah. They are now 17, 15 and 10 and we also have a dog (Abby, a Chihuahua/rat terrier mix) as well as two cats, Apollo & Ares.
When did you join Sweet Shoppe Designs & what’s your favorite thing about being a member of the team?
I joined SSD in 2007 (wow – I’ve been here almost as long as the site!) My favorite thing about SSD is that it’s simply the best place to design AND shop. All the designers are top notch and the product released from week to week is outstanding. And let’s not forget the Babes, they are so inspirational and hard working!
How long have you been designing?
I’ve been designing since late 2004.
What inspires you?
Mostly my own life now that my children are older. I love designing kits I’ll actually use, so most of my product is designed with our own lives in mind.
Tell us a little bit about your design process…
I always start with a theme or idea, then colors. Once I have all that nailed down, I create a check list of embellishments/patterns/illustrations/word art I want to include in the kit and then start designing! I nearly always start with papers, then illustrations, followed by embellishments and lastly the alpha to tie it all together.
What is something we may not know about you?
In addition to designing digital products, I also design for multiple paper and stamp companies! I’m pretty busy!
