A Late BabeWatch
Good evening, well it’s a sunny morning here in Taipei, so good morning to all on this side of the world. Ok, I know this Babewatch is really late, I had intended to be home yesterday, but then a friend decided to go camping for her birthday. And while I’m not opposed to grass and bugs and stuff, we’re just not organized enough to go camping. But we did join her for the day.
So we headed out to the mountains, and after getting over the shock of actually seeing trees again (they’re not common in my part of town), my friend decides to join the guys on a tubing expedition. Now the idea of floating leisurely down a river in a black rubber tube appealed to me – so off we went. Let me tell you now – it’s not that easy. For one thing – you actually have to row yourself along for the most part. So there I was floundering desperately trying to get out of my tube enough to paddle myself along while everyone else headed off breezily down the river. When I finally caught up to the rest of the group they had all been waiting impatiently for 20 mins and it was time for the first rapid. This was incredible anti-climactic since my bottom collided heavily with the first rock and I got stuck, I had to get out of my tube and walk along to deeper water – this pretty much happened at every rapid. The one occasion that I did manage to go through the whole thing, I got flipped over and landed up with my legs sticking up in the air and my tube floating off without me. But 3 hours later; after climbing over many rocks, passing a few water snakes, and many strange stares and jeers from locals, we finally trudged back to camp.
I was forced to open the bottle of wine to get over the trauma and thus we landed up getting back home very late!
And now on to regularly scheduled Babewatch stuff: I’m Mary-Ann and I’m a babe.
I discovered SSD way back in the beginning of my digi love affair – it was the second place I actually purchased kits (I was a freebie girl until then) I just loved the style of all the designers and the fun vibe of the store. I had missed the first Sugarbabe call – but, wasn’t particularly concerned since I knew I didn’t have any chance of getting in. Imagine my surprise a few months later, when I got a PM from Robin actually inviting me to the team. They had noticed my style (somebody had actually been looking at my layouts?) and thought I had the potential to be on the team. Amazing stuff for this newbie scrapper. It’s been a long journey since then, I’ve participated in many creative teams, been published a few times and am on the new Digital Scrapbooking Magazine board – definitely things I would never have thought possible. But, I’m sure that much of my confidence in my scrapbooking was inspired by that exciting PM – that somebody thought I was good enough to join this amazing team of artists.
I hope my story is inspiration to those who have always hoped to be on a team like this, but have never had the confidence to apply. Keep participating and having fun at your favourite store, who knows when you might get an exciting PM!
OK, well I can’t move my arms or my neck, so I’m going to share some layouts and then try to find a rejuvenating frappuccino!
