Sunday Spotlight – Johnny Appleseed Day
My oldest is in 1st grade right now and every day this past week, her class has had some activity dealing with Johnny Appleseed. Friday they spent the whole day learning about apples, using them for math, patterns, graphs, art, & finished by making homemade apple cider! She had so much she had to tell me & apples were a big part of our week.
For those who don’t know, Johnny Appleseed is a famous American figure. He’s best known for planting apple trees throughout the Eastern Midwest (Ohio, Indiana, & Illinois). His “day” is always celebrated on his birthday, September 26. It’s a really fun time for the school’s to do something a little different and the kids enjoy it…at least my daughter did this past week. 😉
I thought it’d be fun to show off some apple kits I found in the Shoppe. And then I thought, this time of year is also a very busy time for those who can. Am I right? I have many neighbors who are harvesting their gardens and fruit trees, then spending their days canning as much as possible. there are times where I wish I could do that. So then I thought it’d be fun to show off any types of canning/gardening kits. Here’s a few of what I’ve found…
I first feel like my daughter should’ve had these in her class. They would’ve had so much fun, don’t you think?
Don’t you just want to enjoy some yummy sliced apples, apple crisp, applesauce, or even some homemade apple pie? I sure do! Go enjoy yourself some apples and think of Johnny Appleseed. 😉 Or just take an extra scoop of ice cream and call it good lol! Have a great week everyone!
