Featured Scrapper 5/28 – Lindsay Mahaffey
Well another month is coming to a close soon. Once again I am blown away by the layouts in this month’s Portfolio Thread and if you’re needing another point to help you along then this week’s challenge should help. If you’ve been around SSD very long you will certainly recognize Lindsay’s (Linz) layouts. They are full of layered goodness and usually are about her adorable little boy. She is fabulous at using patterned papers and elements on her pages.
Here’s a little more about Lindsay:
I started using PSE 4 in 2006 as a siggy maker on a large parenting site. Since then, I’ve upgraded my program a few times and now use CS3. I switched from siggies to scrapping in May 2008 and haven’t looked back!
1. What gets your scrap mojo going?
Taking new photos in new surroundings (different park than we usually go to, a friend’s house, etc) seems to work really well, when possible. Of course, having an amazing new kit to work with is always nice, too.
2. What do you do when you’re not online?
I’m pretty boring, really. My days revolve around my 4 year old son — playing outside, building new and amazing train tracks (well, they’re amazing to him, at least), taking photos, etc. Most evenings are spent scrapping or watching TV.
3. What colors do you love to work with?
Boy colors! hehe. Honestly, I can work with just about any (yes, even the girly ones), but I seem to be drawn to blue, green and orange.
4. Are you a kit scrapper or more of a hodge podge scrapper?
I’ve always been a kit scrapper, but I’m trying to branch out a bit. Maybe it would help if I actually used ACDSee, instead of just letting it take up space on my computer.
I also asked Lindsay to share 3 of her own favorite layouts with us and tell us what she loves about them.
My son can be soooo silly and I try so hard to capture his personality in my pages. It definitely shines through here!
This is one of those pages that just came together SO easily. I knew what I wanted to do right away and I love that I have this little record of things that were important to him at that age.
Sigh….this is by far my favorite photo *EVER* and though I’ve scrapped it numerous times (trying to do it justice), I think this is definitely my best attempt. It’s not often that I get a serious photo out of this child — have to catch him off guard or he’ll ham it up, as usual — so when I do, I can’t stop staring at it.
