Friday Featured Scrapper – Heather Greenwood

Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers! This week, our featured scrapper is a prominent poster here at the Sweet Shoppe. I am happy to present to you – Heather Greenwood (heathergw)!  If you are not familiar with Heather’s work, you can check out her gorgeous gallery here at SSD.

Heather started paper scrapping in 2001 when she got married.  She mostly scrapped her wedding photos and then just made cards after that until her first was born. In 2006, Heather picked up paper scrapping again to scrap my daughter’s first year. She then turned back to making cards until my second was born and started working on his first year album. A friend of hers introduced me to Sweet Shoppe Designs in September 2009 and she fell in LOVE with digital scrapbooking.  Like most of us digi scrappers – she swears that she’ll never go back to paper scrapping. Heather uses Photoshop Elements 6 and she has finally learned the program enough to have found its limitations.  Heather’s goal is to one day buy the full version of Photoshop.

I asked Heather to show me her 3 favorite layouts and why.

Traci’s “Connect With Me” kit was perfect for a tribute to a friendship that started out online and then grew when we met in person and due to a move will continue online. I just loved all the fun elements in this kit and love the simple design with the clustering.

This is another kit that I just LOVED all the elements and wanted to use them all. I really struggle with multi photo layouts and usually use templates if I have several photos to scrap on one page, but this one just fell into place. This was my page for the typographic alignment prompt from the May portfolio and I just loved how everything just flowed together with the title and journaling and gave me something to really think about for future pages.

I just loved this photo from Mother’s Day of my son giving me a big bear hug and the kit by Shawna and Laura was just so perfect for it. I LOVE the starburst paper and all the fun elements in the kit, so perfect for a Mother’s Day layout.

Tiny Tidbits and Questions from Heather:

What is the most challenging part of scrapping to you? Journaling, I don’t do enough of it and I really want to get to a point where I journal the memories on each of my pages

What do you do in real life? I’m a stay at home mom who will be homeschooling my children and hope to one day start my own photography business

If you could only use 2 elements on a layout what would they be? It would be really hard for me to pick just 2 elements since I like to use everything from a kit on my pages. I would have to say that I use a flower and button on every single one of my pages… yes, I even use flowers on my boy pages.

What is your favorite color scheme to work with? I love many color schemes, I think my favorite would be anything with bright colors and neutrals.
