Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers! Finally the end of June, which for me means things will start to slow down a bit for work, and lots of fun things to do outside of work with camping and summer. This weekend we are camping, can’t wait to get away and make some memories, and of course take lots of pictures to scrap later!

Today we are debuting a new Featured Designer, Amanda Yi . Amanda’s style is so distinctive and so much fun. Her doodles are my favourite, and she has so many great kits about any theme you could think about – from Mom Mode: Cheerleader to Spooky Stuff and Here Comes the Sun, there’s something for everyone! Tell us about your journey with digital scrapbooking… How did you find out about it? Did you start with paper first? How did you get started designing? Where was your first shop? How and when did you end up at Sweet Shoppe Designs?

I started off paper scrapbooking my baby shower album. Getting my hands involved was very uplifting during the end of my pregnancy. Shortly after giving birth to my son in 2011, I came across a parenting forum and connected with a few moms who introduced me to digital scrapbooking. I then decided to join creative teams, and after that, I have a desire to teach myself to make my own mini kits as practice. My first shop was at one story down and it was a great first experience as a designer. In 2013 Sweet Shoppe Designs lovely store owner Robin reached out to me inquiring me to join the shop, telling me she loved seeing how far I came from my start at one story down I loved how appreciated my hard work was.

How do you define your style? What does that style include? How has your style changed over the years?

My style is mainly doodle and illustration inspired but I also include realistic elements to bring a pop to my kits. In the beginning, I mainly used commercial use products now I incorporate many of my own designs.

Where do you see your designs going in the future? Is your focus changing in any way?

My style I prefer to be still doodle and illustration-based. I would love to see my work and children books one day it is a dream of mine.

Given the choice, would you pick an indoor or outdoor adventure?

I would pick an outdoor adventure – that adventure being something relaxing, like a bonfire and listening to the crickets at night. I’m simple.

Would you rather go on a relaxing vacation or an adventure hike?

I would rather go on a relaxing vacation somewhere where there’s sun and water, preferably a pool, some music and I can just close my eyes and enjoy the moment.

What is your current desktop or cell phone wallpaper? Why did you choose that image?

My current wallpaper for my phone is an image of the three main characters in my favorite show supernatural with the word chill. It’s a comfort show of mine, and it helps me stay in the moment every time I look at my phone.
