365 Days of Bliss: Summer TV!

Hey everyone! This is Nikki here with today’s Blissful Post. If you know me much at all you probably know that I’m a little bit of a TV addict. It’s shameful I know, but I love a good TV series about as much as I love a good book. We all know that Summer TV usually doesn’t compare to what the networks and cable offer during the “Regular TV Season” but I think we have a little more to choose from these days. (Remember the days when all you got was reruns?)

Here are the shows that have been filling up our DVR’s this summer:

Game Of Thrones

I have to start with GOTs. If you’re going to take a huge epic fantasy story and make it into a movie then the way to do that is just what HBO did. I always say the book is better and of course it is…but in this instance HBO has hit the nail on the head. Every episode was nearly 95 percent true to George R. R. Martin’s book and and seeing it all on my TV, just like I had pictured it when I was reading A Game of Thrones was awesome! Fantastic actors, fantastic story. A+ HBO! 🙂

Swamp People

If you haven’t checked out Swamp People wha-choo waitin fer? 🙂 I cannot stop watching! With all the junk we have served up to us in Reality TV these days, this show is about as real as it gets. The show follows several Cajun alligator hunters in Louisiana’s Atchafalaya Swamp as they race through a month long alligator season. Catch a repeat on History Channel..I promise you’ll be hooked in no time!

Falling Skies

Falling Skies seemed to have some promise. I love Noah Wyle from back in his ER days. Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks Television..sounds like a recipe for success. But the verdict is still out in our house. It’s definitely worth watching, and summer TV is a good place for it when it has little competition. Still, watching the first few episodes I felt like it was kind of a not so good knock-off of AMC’s fantastic series The Walking Dead. Yes..it’s aliens instead of zombies..but the premise three episodes in seems to be much the same.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey

I don’t watch any of the other “Housewives” shows. I don’t know what it is about those Jersey ladies, but I got pulled in during a marathon one weekend and now I can’t seem to turn the channel. Those crazy Jersey ladies are about as far from “real housewives” in my book as you can get, and yet I keep on watching.

Hoarders and Intervention

What can I say? I seem to enjoy shows that leave me shaking my head in amazement, that make me thankful I don’t need an intervention and that motivate me to get up right then and rage clean my house 🙂

Mad Men

Okay, technically Mad Men isn’t airing this summer, but if you haven’t seen any of the first four seasons trust me..watch it. This show about New York City Ad Executives in the 1960’s is completely fascinating and Jon Hamm as Don Draper isn’t so hard on the eyes either. Netflix it. You won’t be disappointed. Then wait impatiently with me for Season 5 sometime next year.

So there you have it. My summer TV line-up. What’s on your list?

Before I go today I also get to share this week’s LOTW. I chose Chocolade Taart by AJM. Awesome page!
