Where do you call home?
I live right outside of Philadelphia, PA.
Tell us a little about your family…
My husband and I have been married for almost 22 years, we got married 2 weeks after he graduated college. (He’s a year younger.) We have 4 kids and right now it’s funny because we have one in college, one in high school, one in middle school, and one in elementary school.
When did you join Sweet Shoppe Designs & what’s your favorite thing about being a member of the team?
Today! I started today, 2/24/24 which is a date I’ll always remember! My favorite part of being a member of this team is how awesome everyone is. I’m new here and everyone has made me feel so welcome and so included. It truly is an amazing place. The forums are funny and everyone here is sweet and creative!
How long have you been designing?
I started selling my digital designs at a store in October of 2022. I was designing about a year before, but not professionally.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my everyday. I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom for over 18 years and so everyday is an adventure at our house. I’ve been making digitally scrapbooked family yearbooks since 2015. I find that I’m always in need of elements for one of our shenanigans and it inspires me to design a kit to meet that need. But since designing as a job, I find myself taking pictures of everything around me, in nature, or as I walk through Michaels, or when we go out to eat. Once I took a picture of the frame in a bathroom at a restaurant, because I loved it so much.
Tell us a little bit about your design process…
I start with the color palette and try to think of some other aspect that goes with the topic, like a certain type of wood, or metallic, or style that can have a presence in the kit. Then I try to make some unique items, doodles, or drawings that can be used as elements and papers. Then it’s all over the place, I jump back and forth between elements and papers, until it’s all done. I’m not sure if everyone does this, but I design more items then I would need and then go through and get rid of the ones that don’t feel right.
What is something we may not know about you?
I was an engineer and then a teacher, but only worked each for only 2 years before I stayed home with my kids.
