Tripped Out Thursday!!
Welcome to our first Tripped Out Thursday at The Sweet Shoppe Blog! We’re Paula Duncan and Teresa Ferguson, two of the sweet shoppe designers who’ve teamed up to bring you a big dose of scrapping mojo to get your pages Tripped Out, Wacked Up, Out of the Box and into your favorites pile before you know it. Tripped Out Thursdays are all about doing something out of the ordinary, stirring up those creative juices and getting all of you to “Scrap More” with a few hints, tips, and techniques from us.
Today’s challenge focuses on scrapping a stationary object, whether it’s a coffee mug, last night’s dinner, an old pair of sneakers, or that half-eaten candy bar on your desk, choose an object that tells a story that’s unique and special to you. So you might be thinking….”Gee, Teresa and Paula, that’s not very interesting….I’ve done that before….and why does it take TWO of you to do this challenge?” Well, that’s where the “Tripped” out part comes into play. This week, we’re challenging you to grab a partner, a kit, a common recipe (provided below) and see what you can do to make your page stand out even though the common denominators are all the same!
Before we get to the recipe, here’s a hint- to make this a extra fun project for both you and your partner, hop on to the instant messaging program like Hello or Yahoo Messenger and share screen shots of your pages with your partner after each step. Do each instruction of the recipe in order, don’t change anything as you go along and in no time, you’ll have a page scrapped- easy peasy!
So on to this week’s Tripped Out Thursday Recipe for Success-
Rules:
1. Once an object (whether it is an embellishment, paper, etc.) has been placed in your layout and shared with your partner it can’t be moved. So take your time deciding where you want your pieces carefully.
2. Have Fun!! This is a must!!
Recipe:
1. Choose a partner
2. Choose one kit that both of you will use.
3. Choose a stationary object as the subject of your photo
4. Choose a solid color for a background
5. Add one flower embellishment
6. Add a ribbon
7. Add another embellishment of your partners choice
8. Add a metal embellishment
9. Cut a shape out of pattern paper
10. Add a title using at least one of the kits alphas. If the kit doesn’t include an alpha then both use the same font.
11. Add journalling. Part of which has to be text on a path. For those with older programs that don’t have this option you can still do you text in a box shape.
12. finishing touches. Add in your drop shadows, grunge overlays, or inking and chalking.
13. Voila. Post a link here to your layouts and who you worked with so that we might share some great praise.
For some added inspriation- here are the two pages we made using the recipe. We chose Teresa’s newest kit “Miss Miscellany” now in the Shoppe for our first challenge.
Teresa’s Layout
Title: Old Spaghetti Factory
Kit: Miss Miscellany (obviously!)
Dramatic B/W” photo action by Michelle Pearson
Fonts- Century Gothic and Cooper Black

Paula’s Layout
Title: Going Places
Kit: Miss Miscellany
Inked Edges by Atomic Cupcake
Font: Century Gothic

We ended up with two extremely different and unique pages, had a lot of fun getting to know each other better on “Hello” while we were scrapping and hope you’ll join us in making your pages “Tripped Out” this Thursday as well. Post a link to your pages here on the blog to show us your interpretation of this recipe! And don’t worry if you can’t find a partner- you can have fun with the challenge on your own as well!
See you next week with a new host and a new Tripped Out Challenge!
Paula and Teresa

I loved this challenge so much I had to do it twice – this time with Traci Reed and we varied the “subject” to be a picture of one of our boys. Here’s mine: http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=28815&cat=500&ppuser=323
