Featured Scrapper 7/9 – Jennifer Merkley

Hey again Sweet Shoppers! I hope everyone is having a fabulous July so far and that you’re all able to stay cool. Here in Mississippi it is hot, hot, hot! Once again the Portfolio Thread is filling up with page after page of eye-candy and I hope that today’s challenge will help you all add one more beautiful layout to your own portfolios. This week our featured scrapper is Jennifer Merkley (NeverendingJen). Browsing through Jennifer’s gorgeous gallery I notice one thing that I’m always drawn to – Big Bold Titles! I love them and her gallery is a great inspiration for just that!

Here’s a little more about Jennifer:

Jennifer starting scrapping in August 2007. In January 2008 she began using PSE6 and then switched to CS4 in 2010 after being scared to use it for months!

1. What color combination, if any, do you have trouble working with and why?

Anything with yellows and oranges. I am not a huge fan of those colors so I am so picky about them.

2. Do you spend a lot of time on your title work?

I’m super picky about my titles being “just right” so I tend to spend a lot of time working on them, sometimes longer than the rest of the layout.

3. If you had an entire day & night to yourself – what would you do? (schedule please!)

An entire day and night to do what I want? Wow! I’d sleep in late, then go for a run, then probably go lay out by the pool for a few hours and just enjoy the sunshine while I read. I’d come home in the afternoon and just relax, watching TV and scrapping and surfing the web. I’d order in my favorite pizza and eat it outside the kitchen(I can break the rules since I am alone!) and scrap late into the night. I’d take a long bubble bath when I am ready to head to bed, then put on a chick flick and eat ice cream in bed while I watch it, and then go to sleep and enjoy the silence!

4. Tell us a little about your scrapping “style” if you have one.

I’m a “throw everything on the page” kind of scrapper. The more layers, the better. I also believe firmly in patterned papers-solid papers scare me! I layer, then layer some more, then add a few more layers just for good measure. I also tend to journal a lot, to get my story told.

I also asked Jennifer to share 3 of her own favorite layouts with us and tell us what she loves about them.

This layout was the most difficult layout I have ever done due to the amount of layers and the sheer volume of stuff used. I normally have trouble using more than one kit on a page so I was really proud of myself for breaking out of my rut and doing this.

These 3 are the reason I scrap-they are my life. I love this page because it just captures them and my emotions about them.

This layout just makes me happy. I was able to scrap with colors I struggle to use, it came together effortlessly, and just seeing it makes me smile.
