Featured Staffer – Dani Mogstad

It’s Friday, the first week in July and I have a fabulous Sweet Shoppe Staffer for you.  This Friday – we are featuring Dani Mogstad!  I just adore Dani’s designs, but have you drooled over her gorgeous gallery?  Make sure you click here to feast your eyes on Dani’s fabulous layouts.

Dani has been scrapping since my daughter was born in 2004, although she has been around scrapbooking her entire life since her mom was an avid scrapbooker and card maker. Dani started digi scrapping not too long after 2004, and since she has a pretty extensive background in Photoshop it was a perfect fit.

Dani uses mostly Photoshop, currently Photoshop CS3, although she thinks it is high time for an upgrade! She also uses {and loves!} ACDSEE. Her camera is a canon Rebel XSi and she shoots mostly in raw. Dani descirbes her love of photography and scrapbooking as equal – since they go hand in hand! Nothing inspires Dani more than a great photo!

As far as designing – Dani has been designing for about as long as she’s been scrapping.  It didn’t take her long to get the design bug! She opened her own store in Sept 2005. She then joined Sweet Shoppe in 2007, and is very happy to consider it her digi-home.

As for inspiration, Dani loves to be inspired by colors and themes.  She has a profound love of all things vintage!  Being a designer allows Dani to do something that she is passionate about and still stay home with her daughter… soon to be 2 daughters!

I asked Dani to share with us her 3 favorite layouts and why:

“This page to me is what scrapbooking is all about… it doesn’t have the world’s most technically correct photos, but to me the story and emotion I can see in my little girl’s face is just priceless!”

“This is one of those pages where the photos just really inspired me! I just love these pictures and the memories behind it. I find when I am in a slump if I can find pictures that really speak to me I can find that old mojo again!”

“I just love this page… its such a perfect representation of my daughter’s larger than life personality!”

Some more Dani QandAs.

Q. Where do you get your inspiration for your pages?

Most of the time the photo tells me where I want to go… but there is so much inspiration out there! I love browsing the galleries and seeing all the amazing pages! It always gets me itching to scrap!
Q. What are your favorite colors to work with?

I don’t really have a favorite… I love all COLOR! Because my most scrapped subject is my daughter I tend to gravitate towards bright, playful colors that suit her personality… and she isn’t a huge girly girl.. so as much as I love pink I don’t scrap with it too much.

Q. What other creative things do you do outside of scrapping & designing?

Those keep me plenty busy! I love to take photos for friends and family and I am always up to some sort of crafty project with my daughter.. who is developing into quite the little artist!

Q. What is the most challenging part of scrapping to you?

I think lately its just been finding the time. I keep myself pretty busy being Mom, wife and designer, so finding those spare moments to actually scrap gets harder and harder.

Here is some inspiration from our Babes!

Jamie used the circle layering from “Gotcha”, the photo layout and background paper/stitching from “Jump”,  and the paper strips in the middle from “Hey Cupcake”.  She used Dani’s kit POP! for her layout:

Darla was Inspired by: the placement of main photo and papers, circle brushes, paint splats in “Gotcha” layout, the flowers, side elements, stars and border stitches from “Jump” layout,  and the double matting, leaves, edge to edge strip border and circle elements from “Hey Cupcake” layout. She mostly used Dani’s kit Take Me Away for her layout.

Shannon was inspired by: Gotcha-Top Corner Photo Placement-Off Set Frame-Word Art, Jump-String-Glitter-Layered Elements tucked in and around photos, Hey Cupcake-Vertical Paper Striping-Bold Title-Circle Sprays-Scallop.   She used  Light Up The Night for her layout.

And here is mine (Stephanie). I used the kit He’s the Man – a collab between Dani Mogstad & Traci Reed.  I was inspired by Photo Placement from “Gotcha”, Stitching & differnt Alphas from “Hey Cupcake”, Journaling Strips & mat from “Jump!”.

You have until the end of July to complete this challenge!  Have a fantastic Friday & a very HAPPY 4th of July for those Celebrating this holiday.
