Featured Scrapper 10/15 – Sugirdha Prakash

Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers! I hope everyone is enjoying this month’s Portfolio Prompts! I took a peek at the thread yesterday and am seriously blown away (again) at the fabulous pages you all have created. Today we have another bonus challenge to help you out with points and we’re featuring a fabulous scrapper Sugirdha Prakash (sugirox). Sugirdha’s gallery is full of bright colors and bold designs and and mostly feature one of the cutest little boys you ever did see.

Here’s a little more about Sugirdha:

My name is Sugirdha Prakash (sugirox in the gallery) and I live in the sunny island of Singapore with my wonderful husband of 8 years. We are proud parents of a very busy almost 4 year old. I studied to be a dentist and practiced for 2 years. Currently I am a stay at home mom to my son and a full time scrapper. Scrapbooking is my passion. I love spending time with my family, reading, photography and crocheting.

I started DigiScrapping in March of 2006 when i was expecting my son. I wanted to document every moment of every day and it didn’t take long for me to get hooked. I started with Photoshop 7 and later upgraded to CS3 which is what I am currently using. My camera is Nikon D90 and the laptop I use for scrapping is a Dell Inspiron.

What is the most challenging part of scrapping to you?

The most challenging part of scrapping to me is telling the story and doing pages about me. By doing the portfolio challenges I am slowly learning to write up the stories, but the latter still scares me!

What are 2 things you consider yourself to be very good at?

Photography and Digi Scrapping. I got hooked on both soon after my son was born. When I’m not running or cleaning up after him I’m at the computer or behind a camera!

What’s the hardest element for you to use and why?

Flowers without a doubt!!! Since my pages are of my son i try not to make it look girly. Though I do use them on most of my layouts, I never really know when to stop.

Tell us a little about your scrapping “style” if you have one.

I don’t know if I have a particular style. I’m more of a kit scrapper and I love bold colours and so use them a lot in contrast with light backgrounds. I also have mild OCD when it comes to matching the colours in the pictures to a kit.

The following are three of Sugirdha’s favorite layouts including the reasons why she loves them:

I did this for the August portfolio challenge. It was outside of my comfort zone as i did not use a template. It uses my favorite picture and my favorite kit and I absolutely love how it turned out.

Since I am always behind the camera there are very few pictures of me with my son. When my mom visited recently she snapped this picture of us. It is a very special picture and so I put a lot into scrapping it.

When I saw this kit I fell in love with the colours, so I used it to scrap my two favorites – the beach and the boy. I caught him off guard and for once I had some pictures that didn’t have a goofy grin or a funny face and I enjoyed scrapping them.
