Featured Staffer – Heather Roselli

Happy Friday Sweet Shoppers! The cold weather has set in and all the leaves are falling in Wisconsin. It sure feels like fall around here!

This week – our Featured Staffer is Designer Heather Roselli.  Heather has been scrapping since 2002 and designing and selling since 2005.  She works on a HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop running the new Windows 7 and a huge external Dell flat screen monitor. The laptop has 8GB of RAM and handles all my programs really well. The programs Heather uses are Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3, Color Schemer, etc.

I asked Heather what her 3 favorite kits are and she told me that they change (of course!) but currently they are:

3 Favorites: Of course my favorite kits change all the time, but currently I’d have to say that

Don’t Blink

Lickin’ the Bowl

Cubicle with a View

To find out a little bit more about Heather – I asked her a few questions!

Q. How did you get started designing?

I began scrapbooking in January 2002 after my first child was born in order to share his new life with my Mom and Dad since they lived so far away. I soon became frustrated with having pictures the wrong size for what I wanted to do. I started laying out my page spreads on the computer so I could crop the photos the way I wanted to before ordering my digital prints. Somehow while doing that I stumbled across digital scrapbooking and realized that was what I had been doing, except I was then translating my digital layouts to paper ones. I put up all my paper supplies and immediately started creating digital pages.

Within just a few weeks I started designing my own kits in PhotoShop based on the colors and patterns in my children’s clothes, not with the intent to sell them, but just to use for myself. Soon I had 10 kits on my hard drive! Turned out that I loved designing! I was incredibly lucky to be involved with The Digi Chick forums at that time and was accepted as a designer there in the Fall of 2005. In July of 2007 I moved to my dream gig at Sweet Shoppe Designs and absolutely love it here! What a wonderful group of designers, staff members and community members we have here!

Q. What is your best selling product?

So far this year my school collab with Tracey Howard, Teacher’s Pet, Love Me Do and Lickin’ the Bowl have sold the most.

Q. Where do you get inspiration for your designs?

My kids, their clothing and activities, my team’s ideas and photos, the seasons, different websites…everything! 🙂

Q. What is your designing “atmosphere”?

LOL! A crazy house with 3 boys aged 8 and 6 (twins)! Until last spring I was designing on my laptop on the sofa with just a swing over laptop desk while trying to keep tabs on the kids. However, since July I’ve upgraded to a nice desk and a wonderfully huge new monitor in the dining room and I’m loving it. Now that all the kids are in school full-time (first time I’ve had that in over 8 years!) I get to design in relative peace (without Sponge Bob, Ben 10, MythBusters, etc) while listening to my own music.

Here are what some babes and a designer came up with!

Col used the Milk Carton template and Kristin’s Bewitching to create this super cute container!

Here is another hybrid inspiration from designer Julie! She made this as a Halloween gift for my son’s second grade teacher. The backpack was a perfect gift container for a teacher! I got 25 Hershey Miniatures to fit inside it! Julie used Sugar-High Night by Heather Roselli and the DIY Printable Templates: Backpacks by Heather Roselli.

And here is my layout using Animal Farm by Heather highlighting the good eats at the State Fair this year!

Have fun with some Heather Roselli Designs and I look forward to seeing what you create! 🙂
