Featured Scrapper 11/12 – Gemma Crane

Hello again Sweet Shoppers! I hope everyone is having a fantastic November so far. Today our featured scrapper, Gemma Crane (Gemma) has a gallery FULL of gorgeous inspiration to help you add another easy point to your November Portfolios. So let’s get to know a little more about Gemma:

My name is Gemma and I’m from UK but dream of living in the US! I’m a stay at home mum to 2 fabulous little boys, Jack and Harry but now they are both at school all day I want to practice my photography skills so I can (hopefully) become a sports photographer! Apart from scrapping I can be found baking goodies in the kitchen, reading books or watching television.

I first got bitten by the scrap bug in late 2008, but as I used to design message board signatures I didn’t scrap often, then in mid 2009 I got well and truly addicted. Since then I’ve tried to scrap at least once every few days but lately it’s at least one page a day! I’ve always used CS3 to scrap, I tried CS5 but couldn’t get used to it so stuck with what I know best. I take my photos either with my D40 or iPhone which isn’t the best but it does the job sometimes!

If you could use only 1 SSD kit from now on, what would it be?

Just 1 kit? That’s mean lol, I think if I had to chose it would be Press Play by Jenn Barrette and Meg Mullens, just because I’m a HUGE music fan so could happily reuse all the elements in this kit all the time!

When and where do you scrap? Are you an early morning or late-night scrapper?

I normally make myself comfortable on the sofa when I’m scrapping, the dog lies beside me and I get on with my scrapping, I usually have my earphones in too, when I have music on through the earphones you know I’m scrapping! I tend to do most of my scrapping in the morning once the boys have gone off to school, it’s the only time I get to sit and do a page or 2 without being disturbed!

What kind of color scheme do you find most challenging to work with?

Being a mum to 2 boyish boys pink has to definitely be the hardest scheme to work with, when I have to work with pink I usually use a photo of me, or a photo of a friends little girls!

Describe your scrapping “style”.

I’ve never thought of myself as having a style actually, if I had to pick one I’d say I’m more of a white space scrapper, I have trouble filling a page so tend to leave a lot of space on most pages I make!

The following are three of Gemma’s  favorite layouts including the reasons why she loves them:

I LOVE how this one turned out, it totally suits the photos and his little personality shines though, the kit is awesome and just what I was wanting when I took the photos!

I spent hours on this one trying to get all the layers looking like they fit, and I’m so happy with how it ended up, I love when a page comes together like this one did, it makes all the time worth it!

When we went to the fair I couldn’t really get my DSLR out so had to use my iPhone for the photos and they weren’t the best quality but I loved how they showed the kids having fun so I knew I needed to scrap with them, after converting them to B&W and putting them with this awesome kit I was amazed at how good the finished page looked!
