Friday Featured Staffer – Fee Jardine

It’s Friday Sweet Shoppers!  Can I hear a YAY!!!!  This week has been busy busy – I don’t know if it is the holidays creeping up or just normal life multiplied by a thousand.

Friday means a new Featured Staffer to entertain, enlightened and challenge you!  This week, we are featuring our fabulous designer Fee Jardine!  Fee has been digital scrapping for 5 years and designing for 4 ½.  She uses Photoshop CS5, Illustrator CS3, Artrage and a couple of Plugin extras Filter Forge and Alien Skin Eye Candy Products to create her designs.

I asked Fee to share 3 of her favorite kits with me and it is no surprise that her favorites are mine, too!

“Two of my favourite kits are Happy Days and Gypsy.    I love bright happy looking kits…and both these babies make me smile so I guess that’s why they are favourites.    Plus I have a thing for flowers…if I could work out how to put flowers in a boy kit and for them to work I would :)”

“One of my favourite boy themed kits would be Technoboy!    I fell in love with the robots as soon as I drew them so I definitely have a soft spot for them…especially the dog.     Also when I showed my 5 year old son the kit he loved it and told me it was the “best kit EVER!!!!”      How can I argue with that lol!”
Q.How did you get started designing?

When I first starting Digital Scrapping I didn’t realise that you could buy products so I made my own.     Now when I look back at what I created I cringe with horror…they were soooooo bad lol!     Can I blame it on the style of early digital scrapping???      Anyway I was lucky enough to get my start as a designer in an Online Paperscrapping site that was interested in bringing on a couple of digital artists.    The owner had seen one of my layouts in the gallery where I had listed some of my goals…one of them being that I would start to sell my designs.    She contacted me and I started selling.     I was extremely lucky in getting my first break like that.     It was a great stepping stone for getting into a store that focused purely on Digital products.
Q.What is your favorite part of the design process?

Probably the first bit…when I sketch out ideas, collect colour schemes and put together a list of things I want to do.    This part is a process where I scribble and doodle for fun.     Plus it’s a great excuse to check out inspirational places like Etsy…and see all the gorgeous things I’d love to have 🙂
Q.Where do you get your design inspiration from?

I love an Aussie Magazine called Real Living so I get inspiration from that, websites like Etsy, Design Sponge, clothing, lots of places.

Q. Do you have any other hobbies besides designing?

I’ve dabbled in a lot of crafty things but probably the thing I spend the most time on at the moment other than digital is building a dollhouse.     And it’s not for a child…its all for me.     Yep I’m just a big kid lol!     I’ve been working on it for a couple of years and it will probably take years to finish but its a lot of fun.     Especially when you see all the really cute little miniature things you can buy to decorate it.     I’m addicted to buying miniature food…I can’t resist…miniature food is so cute.
