365 Days of Bliss: A Birthday Fit for a Princess (and Layout of the Week)

Hello Sweet Shoppers! Anybody burned out after iNSD and Mother’s Day over the weekend? I hope you had the time of your life shopping at the sale and participating on the games at the forum. Anybody scrapped their hearts out too? A little tip on surviving the aftermatch of iNSD (digistash shopping): 1.) Download kits as early as possible or else you might forget them. 2.) Unzip them as soon as you download them, and 3.) Organize, organize, organize. That way you know what your stash is made of — it will make it easier to scrap more pages, worthy of the shopping damages you made *wink*.

The only time I was able to fully enjoy iNSD was in 2006. I was full term (and very much pregnant with my daughter) and spent almost 24 hours shopping, chatting, downloading goodies and scrapping while I wait for my girl to pop. Perhaps she felt how much I wanted to be online that weekend that she came 24 hours after iNSD was done. She must be thinking that “I might as well give you this year to celebrate iNSD because once I am out, it’s going to be all about MEEEEEEE!”

And it had been all about her. Martha turns five today (May 9th), and it always is iNSD on the weekend close to her birthday – and Mother’s Day. So I cannot fully enjoy iNSD shopping AND my Day because it always is about her, no matter how much I try to make it all about me. Aren’t we mothers the same? Anything for our kids!

So this year was her first time throwing a party in a different way. We live in an area where a part of it houses underprivileged families, and those families have children who have become, in a way, her friends too. We celebrated it with them, and gave away school supplies and a couple of toys to 65 kids. We want to teach our children the concept of sharing and charity. And that they realize how blessed their life has been and how lucky they are to be going to school and not be forced to give it up because their parents don’t have resources to send them to school.

And since no blog post is complete without pictures, here is a spread using Janet’s All These Photos 2. I think it will accomplish telling the story more than me writing a thousand word post about the party:

So, I may not have scrapped at all last weekend but I am coming with a vengeance this week – I hope all us do the same (scrapping with our purchased goodies!).

And to celebrate those who scrapped over the weekend, I chose this page by ltarbox as Layout of the Week. Note that it wasn’t easy. Remind never to volunteer for LOTW the week after iNSD – the gallery is EXPLODING with so many eye-candy pages!!
