365 Days of Bliss – Day 1

Hi there Sweet Shoppers!

Libby here, and I’m super stoked about the new direction we’re taking for the Sweet Shoppe blog.  For more than a year, we’ve brought you regular features like Penny Candy playdates and Take Out Tuesdays, but starting today, we’re bringing you 365 days of Bliss on the Sweet Shoppe Blog. Digital Scrapbooking is about life, it’s about memories, and it’s about people. We have an amazing team of brilliant women behind the scenes here at SSD, and all of them have incredible stories to tell. We want to share those stories and memories with you so that we become closer as a family here at the sweetest spot on the net, so tune in every day to read something new from one of our staffers! They’ll be sharing everything from recipes and craft projects to tutorials and pics from their latest family vacation, and every day will bring you something blissfully sweet to reflect on so don’t miss it.

You know, when I first signed up for this first post in the 365 Days of Bliss, I didn’t have a clue what I’d write about. Heck, if we’re being honest, as I sat down and logged into the blog here this evening, I still wasn’t sure what little bit of my life I wanted to share with you. I had thoughts ranging from the silly (ie my love for coffee!) to the more serious and reflective (2 very dear family members were diagnosed with serious illnesses this week). I settled on the fact that I’m so blessed, and I’d like to share with you one of the many reasons why.

I had a minor surgical procedure yesterday morning. It really was no big deal, but I have always been very sensitive to medications. As a result, the anesthesia has left me feeling very weak and nauseous even a full day later. My husband Jeff has been such an amazing helper to me while I’ve recovered.  I had teased before the surgery that I’d planned to “milk it” afterward, but I haven’t been given the opportunity as he’s constantly one step ahead of me. He insisted that I take a nap this afternoon, and while I slept he cooked an amazing dinner and cleaned the kitchen. Now this may seem like a great thing in and of itself, but the fact of the matter is that this isn’t out of the ordinary for him. He often cooks, frequently does the dishes and cleans the kitchen, and is always there for me to help make my life easier. While I often thank him and let him know how much I appreciate him, I felt the need to share with the world what an incredible gift he is to me. I am truly blessed.

Just because I’m so proud of him, and I hate blog posts without photos, here’s a picture from our wedding in November.

  • I am thankful that I snagged such an amazing wife! I’m thankful for how she has opened my eyes to the wonderful family I have always had, but never noticed. I’m thankful for our faith in God during troublesome times with her grandmother and my mom in the hospital right now. I’m thankful for my son and step daughter. And lastly, I’m thankful for chocolate, gummies and ice cream! Amen! 🙂

  • what a beautiful post… I am SO blessed/grateful for my husband as well. He has helped me and grown with me… during the last six years…. since we got married in 2005… and during our darkest hours (losing 5 babies) …. he was always my knight in shining armor ready and willing to rescue me whenever I should feel the need …. even if that meant more laundry, more kitchen time, cooking me TASTY meals …. or even just a hug or an ear to listen! HE is my blessing!

  • Such a sweet post Libby!

Today I am thankful simple moments of peace in my wild and crazy life. With so much going on with everyone all the time, it can be overwhelming… but I love the moments when I can stop and reflect and just drink in all the wonder around me!

  • I am thankful for my awesome church community!

  • I think I’m going to love the new blog format!

This weekend particularly, I’m thankful for being gifted with a crafty and thrifty nature and the strength of body to do the things I desire. I’m able to decorate our home by my own hand saving us a fortune and teaching my children useful skills.

  • Libby, you two are SO cute. what a fabulous husband!
I’m SO thankful for sundays. it’s the only day my husband has off and i LOVE our family time together. the girls are just extra special lovey and even if we aren’t doing anything but hanging out outside or even inside, we’re together…and that’s all that counts.

  • Awww what a beautiful reflection 🙂 I am thankful today for supportive friends that I have in church, they’ve been encouraging and making me happy while my husband is away for the whole month 🙂

  • I am thankful for my 4 beautiful boys! They are SOOOO amazing. AND today I am thankful for the SUNSHINE! Going to just soak it up today!

  • I am thankful for my husband as well. Like last night I wanted to see Prom (the new Disney movie)…Fast Five was also playing and I know he would have rather went to see it but he insisted no you want to see Prom that is what we are going to see. I know there are not a lot of men who would sit through those types of movies but he will and never complains.

Then today he woke me up and asked me if I wanted to go to the local botanical gardens because he knows how much I love it. It hurts him to walk very far with bad knees and a bad back but he goes with me anyhow.

  • Great idea for a blog! I love it!

And I know you’ve got a keeper because my husband is the same way! I had some pretty bad tailbone issues after DS was born, and when we realized later that it wasn’t just normal childbirth pains, we wondered why the staff didn’t put up any red flags. I realized it must have been because I wasn’t reliant on the staff, because DH did everything for me before they even knew it was necessary. Those helping husbands are amazing! 🙂

  • I am thankful to be alive today. One more day.

  • Aww Libby…your post rocks! What a perfect way to start out this new journey on the blog. I have so many things to be thankful for in my life – my faith, my husband, my children, my parents…even as I look out at the window at all this snow on May 1st…I am still thankful. xoxo

  • What a great addition to the Sweet Shoppe blog. I’m thankful for so many things — husband, large family, health, friends & my neighborhood.

  • I am incredibly thankful for a family that loves and understands me unconditionally. The past year has been very difficult and trying and without my family I would not have made it. But I am still here and kicking and it is because of them.

  • I am thankful that my family was kind enough to humor me on pseudo-Easter today. 🙂 Since we missed Easter due to illnesses last week, we did a re-do today. Not quite the same, but still wonderful in its own way.

  • I am thankful for my family and my health!

  • Today, I’m thankful that my grandmother is back home from the hospital, and that I am counting the day to go to Florida to see her. Thanks!

  • I am thankful for my best friend who helps keep me grounded and makes it possible to retain an itty bit of my sanity.

  • I am thankful that my children are having a wonderful visit with their grandparents. They have not been able to visit for almost 5 years so my boys didn’t even remember them.

  • It is so nice to see a pic of you and your dh. You are still newlyweds, how cool is that?! My blessing is that my dear dog (9 1/2 years old) had a successful surgery on Friday and is recovering nicely. The fear was there because 11 years ago we lost our first dog (at 7 1/2 years of age) to a rare anesthetic death during a routine diagnostic procedure. We were caught completely unprepared and I grieved for a solid 2 years. She was my baby before we had our babies. So Friday afternoon was a blessing. A surgery that had the desired result. And a doggie on the mend. And a grateful heart for me.

  • My blessing is my family, from extended to my healthy daughter and DH to the little boy growing within me. I am so blessed to have the family that I have. They do mean the world to me.

  • Whoops forgot my Username in the previous post. Banana1282

  • With a crazy life and crazy health issues always, I’m still thankful for my family and everything they bring to my life!! They are my greatest blessing!

  • I’m thankful I have such an incredible place to exercise my creative passion, and a loving and giving family who are supportive and just plain fun to be around!
Love your blissful kick-start here and the wonderful participation from our SSD family.

  • I’m a little late to the party but I still wanted to comment.

I very blessed and thankful for my daughter. Each day is a new experience.
