365 Days of Bliss – Happy Labor Day and LOTW

Heather here with this week’s LOTW and to share a little bit about my holiday weekend. Mark had a 4 day weekend and we’ve been so busy that I’m actually enjoying this little bit of time alone to catch up online. Two years ago, we bought a short sale house and it was in desperate need of a lot of repairs. We got a great price knowing that we would need to build up some major sweat equity. I had all these dreams for the house and I found that they didn’t go as quickly as I wanted them to go and it ended up putting me in a bit of a funk about the house. I recently realized that it was because we had been working so hard to fix up the house but haven’t had any time to actually make our house our own. Thanks to Pinterest, I’ve found a zillion ideas of things I want to do with the house to make it ours. So, on Friday, we went shopping. I’m a DIYer so we went to the Habitat for Humanity Restore in town and bought some chairs. We also had 3 bar stools that were left by the previous owner. I bought some paint and got to work. During naptime I went to Hobby Lobby and got some fabric that I instantly fell in love with. I knew that the one chair needed to be re-upholstered and it would be perfect for it. Unfortunately, weather didn’t exactly cooperate for me this weekend and I couldn’t finish them before today… plus, I ran out of paint, so it’s off to Hobby Lobby again. I only have one chair finished, and have in progress pictures of the other chairs. I’ll be heading out to finish them up now that we have some really gorgeous and much needed cooler weather.

This chair was a conference chair and there were several more at the restore and I’m debating whether or not to head back there and get a second one… this is the one that’s finished and I’m totally in LOVE with it and the fabric!!!

I’m also painting the bar stools aqua and I’m really hoping it will bring some cheer to the kitchen.

We broke a dining room chair and since we had broken one about a year ago we now only have 4 chairs left which meant that we didn’t have a seat for everyone at the table anymore. I found these two chairs at the restore and I’m painting them white. Eventually I’m gonna re-upholster them too when I figure out a color scheme for the dining room and find a fabric I like. I also want to find some more chairs to do the same thing with. I think next month we’ll go to the flea market and see what they have.

Anyone want to help me pick out stain color for our hardwood floors? That’s next on my agenda since we hope to finish our floors as our next project. I may have to post a poll in the forums to get some opinions… I didn’t realize it was going to be so hard for me to decide. LOL!!!

Today is also Monday which means it’s LOTW day!!! I had so much fun browsing the layouts from this week and once again it was so hard for me to pick from our amazing gallery here! The talent here just amazes me every week! I did finally pick this one though! I love the composition of it and the spirographs are just too cool here. I love all the photos too, it’s such a darling layout.
