365 Days of Bliss and LOTW

Good morning sweet shoppers!  Laura here and while my post is titled, 365 days of Bliss….i wanna talk (read: whine) about something that weighs heavily on my mind this time of year.  I realize that we are just coming off the Thanksgiving holiday here in the states, but i really am not so thankful once hunting season comes around.  yes.  i, laura wilson, am a hunting widow.  my husband is OBSESSED with hunting.  he works construction and more often than not gets laid off in the winter but even now, when he’s still working, he spends countless hours getting his ‘pit’ ready for the days he does hunt, heck, he even works at a hunt club in the winter.  now, i’m sure that most of you are thinking, ummm, hello?  you do a bazillion and 32 layouts a week and you’re calling him obsessed with something?  well, my loves, that’s what’s so wonderful about being the wife of a hunter.  i am given the right to complain about how not present he is in our lives this time of year 🙂

now, my husband only hunts waterfowl so, i do realize that i’m lucky in that respect, but as i mentioned before, he does nothing but talk about hunting this time of year.  i have to constantly remind him of my ‘honey do’ list (which really isn’t much, because i’m used to him not being around a lot because of his crazy hours with work), remind him of family get togethers, and sometimes i even have to remind him of what we’ve gotten the kids for christmas because we just ‘forgets’ when i talk to him (because his mind is somewhere off in waterfowlandia)!    what i don’t understand is, the man gets up 2 hours before he normally even gets up for work, in freezing temperatures, to go sit in a hole in the ground and wait for birds to fly over his head.  how is this fun?  i mean, to each their own, but really?  he does ‘work’ while he is hunting.  there’s a big demand for hunting waterfowl here (apparently) because he works for a friend of ours and they have guided hunts almost every day of the week.  people PAY him to help them call geese/ducks and he gets to do what he loves, so i suppose i shouldn’t complain too much, but, you get it, right?  see, look how happy these big lugs look!  (haha, i’m so funny!  these boys NEVER smile in photos)

all of this being said, i do love that he has something to keep him busy while he is laid off in the winter time, but sometimes, i really miss my bubba!  after 10 years of being together, i’ve learned it’s better to just let him have his time to play and i’ll take care of things on the homefront.  we’re all happy that way.

ahh, i feel better now.  before i go, i want to bring you this week’s layout of the week.  it sorta sucked having to pick this week because there were SO many amazing releases this weekend and the gallery was so jam packed with awesomeness.  i did finally come to a decision.  this layout by tanyiadeskins just absolutely blows my mind.  i love how she made the wreath, the shadows, that banner and the way she’s placed the sign, it just looks so real to me!  congratulations tanyia!  i’ll be PMing you soon!

  • This is such an awesome page! Congrats, Tanyia!!

  • your honesty always makes me smile… awesome pick for LOTW too!!!

  • you’re lucky you don’t live in Canada, do you? Those are protected Canadian Geese those guys killed. Protected, meaning you can not kill them. It’s not duck, pheasant, seagull, its a protect species. Where is the law when you need them…some one call the police. Thanks for the picture, I’ll be sending this info to my wildlife agency and have them look into this. Shame on them, shame, shame, shame.

  • I’ll be unsubscribing, thanks. I’m a vegan and just can’t believe that I had to stare at a bunch of carcasses while flipping through my scrapbooking inspiration.
