365 Days of Bliss – Thanksgiving Decorating

Hi Sweet Shoppers!  It’s Kresta here to bring you today’s blissful blog post!

If you live in the US, did you know that there are only 16 more days until Thanksgiving???!!  Oh my goodness, this year has flown by.  But Thanksgiving is one of my very favorite holidays.  It’s minimal stress — the only stress being preparing the meal and having the house presentable.  But there is no stress of trying to buy gifts, etc.  And the whole idea of a day spent with family, full of gratitude, is just a wonderful thing!

For the past two years we have held our Thanksgiving meal at our lake house, and we have decided that will always be our tradition.  We just invite all of our family, and whoever is able to come and has not already made plans elsewhere, brings a dish and joins us for the day.  It’s such a fun time!

Last year was a little different.  We had a friend from church who is in the military who was far from home and didn’t have anyone to celebrate with.  After much pleading, we convinced her to join our family, and I think she really enjoyed herself.  We enjoyed having her with us too!  Well, this year, we have a few young military families at our church.  We’ve invited them all to the lake for Thanksgiving!  Not sure how many will be able to join us, but it will be so much fun!

So, now is the time to think about making it look festive.  It is a lake cabin, so it’s already warm and cozy feeling, but I’d like to add a few festive touches, and of course, set the tables nicely.  I’ve found some beautiful things on Pinterest that have sparked some ideas of how I might decorate.

Here are some beautiful table settings:

Here’s a super-cute (and not too hard) wreath that is festive:

And here is a really beautiful and festive wreath:

I think I love this idea most of all…to have a craft paper table cloth and markers at each place setting so our guests can write on the paper/tablecloth the things for which they are thankful…brilliant!:

Of course, here’s some fun for the kids:

And here are a couple of great ways to let the food help decorate:

Hope this post has given you a few ideas for decorating and preparing for your Thanksgiving gathering!  If you have other great ideas, link us up in the comments!
