2012 Year-Long Project for Memory Keepers

Hello 2012. For us memory-keepers, the start of the new year always means two things, 1) Tis the season to wrap up last year’s memories and 2) Set goals for memory-keeping for the new year. Which projects would we like to try? Which projects did we fail to finish and would like to give a try again?

I personally have year-long project goals every year. There are some I have been successful with, some not so. I think the key here is choosing what will work for us, since all of us are in different situations (some work, some don’t, some have children, some don’t).

Here are a few projects you might want to try for 2012. Remember, you don’t exactly have to start on January 1st. You can start anytime you want to!
1. Project 365 | Photo a Day. Taking a photo a day has been easier for some people. There are people (like me) who stop at Day __. You just need to find what works for you!
2. Project 52. 52 weeks in a year. Basically you just document your week, not necessarily having a photo a day. I did this but in blog posts all throughout the year. I have found it an essential tool for me to check on dates and little events I might have otherwise forgotten.
3. Month in Review. Can’t commit to everyday or weekly documentation? Month in review might work! Katie the Scrapbook Lady’s monthly roundup is a useful tool for this.
4. Project Life. Project Life was conceived by Becky Higgins and has transformed photo-sleeve scrapbooking. You can do it using the core kit she offers or use your own stash and even do it digital all the way. It can be P365, P52 or Month-in-Review — as long as it captures “your life”.
5. 12 in 12. You can choose to capture 12 photos every 12th day of the month for 2012.
6. Week in the Life. A popular project by Ali Edwards, you can choose to capture a week in your life, from the mundane to special occassions, and have it an album.
7. Family Photos x 12 Months. I have been doing this for 2 years! Inspired by Tara Whitney’s blog post (six people x 12 months), I take photos of our family (with me in it!) every month, without fail. It is harder than I thought even if we are together everyday. But it has been amazing how my kids have grown in the span of a year!
8. 1000 Thankful Thoughts. I have seen this done – you list what you are thankful, whether in your blog or handwritten in your journal, continuously for the whole year.
9. One Little Word. Read all about it here.
10. All About Me. Amidst all the project goals you have listed, do not forget to document YOU!

There are more projects out there and I’d love to hear from you what you are doing for 2012.

XoXo,
Aggie

  • Love the new look!

  • Thanks so much for the list, putting all the variations of year long projects in one place–I’ve been searching for one, and here it is, right at SSD, where I go all the time! Thanks!
