Formally

Hey Sweet Shoppers, Keely here today to share a milestone in our house. You see my first born will be attending her first formal this year.  For the past few months my daughter Keiran and I have been swapping links and Pinterest pins of dresses, she’s been thumbing through magazines and weighing her options.  Every few days I get an update on who bought their dress and what it looks like. It’s hard for me to believe.

This was my daughter’s very first dress. Literally minutes after she was born I was on the phone with my mom saying “It’s a girl!!” And she immediately headed out to buy her a dress. Time flies. Really.

A couple of weeks ago we spent a weekend at my Mom’s house, she lives a few hours away from us in a small town. We decided to make the trek to San Antonio so we could do a little formal dress shopping. She’d really hoped to be a part of the process. Keiran was looking for something short, maybe a turquoise blue (her very favorite color ) or possibly a darker purple or green ( my redhead looks great in those colors), definitely no pink or black. She wanted straps and nothing too “foo foo”.  Honestly we were hesitant to get her hopes up because we’d had such a hard time online finding options that were a. liked and appropriate b. available in her size. Luckily we hit the jackpot. We ended up with a dressing room full of dresses, and even after trying on many of them she had several options that worked. I couldn’t believe it was my baby girl in those dresses. She left with a dress that is nothing like what she thought she’d get but it’s beautiful and my girl looks so, so pretty in it. sniff sniff  It was extra special having my mom there too and I know she felt the same way I did.

It looks much prettier on her than the mannequin.

So now we’re on the hunt for really narrow running silver strappy heels in a size 9 or 9.5, (not too high). I’ve got a boxes from Zappos and Shoes.com piled in my living room and we’re crossing our fingers. She needs them early enough so she can master walking in heels. She’s debating accessories, make-up and hair do’s ( I’m pushing for hair down).  Ahh to be a teenager.

To be honest this wasn’t a milestone I’d thought about much but I have to say it’s a lot of fun to see her so excited. It’s also kind of hard to see her so grown up. I know she’s counting down the weeks. I’m hoping she has a wonderful evening. (and that I get some good pictures!) Thanks for letting me share!

Until next time, Happy Scrapping.
