One Ringy Dingy, Two Ringy Dingy…

Hello Sweet Shoppers!  It’s Kresta here, with a little bit of a history lesson for you.  Ready?  Good!  Well, on this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell, who was 29 years old, received a patent for his new invention – the telephone.

My! How far we’ve come in 136 years!  What in the world would we do without our phones??!!

I would be willing to bet that talking is probably the thing most of spend the least amount of time doing on our phones.  It’s so true.  I use my phone as a camera, as a calculator, for email, to play games and music, to check Facebook and Twitter along with lots of other websites (like SSD!), to message my husband and friends, to play games, to read, to to keep track of my cycle, to create a grocery list, to keep up with what’s on my calendar, etc.  The list could go on and on!  In fact, my husband even uses his for hunting (feeding times and animal calls) – it’s crazy!

And with the creation of things like FaceTime and Skype, what I thought as a little girl would never be possible in my lifetime, is now just an everyday thing for many people.

I remember how big my family’s first cellphone was.  It’s funny to think about those big packs people used to carry around.  We definitely have come a long way.

I saw this today and thought it was funny:

So, a very big THANK YOU to Mr. Bell for getting this whole obsession into motion!
