My 2 Girls

Hi Sweeties!
Libby here again to bring you today’s little bit of Sweet Shoppe bliss.  You know, having a new baby, a lot of times the older kids get overlooked.  I’ll admit that I usually post about Chloe because my life seems to revolve around her right now, but I have to take a minute and brag about my older daughter Gracie.

Gracie is 14 and chooses to live with her dad in another state so that she can go to high school with the friends she grew up with.  To say I miss her like crazy is the understatement of the year.  Sure, we talk on the phone all the time, and Skype & texting make it easy for us to stay connected.  It’s not the same as getting to wrap my arms around her.  I still feel like I’m a part of her everyday life, but I miss not seeing her every day.  Well, last week, she came here to spend 6 weeks with us, and I can already tell you, it’s gonna be HARD to let her go!

I don’t even know where to begin in bragging about my girl.  She’s one of the most polite young ladies you’ll ever meet, she’s so compassionate, and she just got her report card for the 2nd semester where she received straight A’s.  She plays french horn in the marching band and will be a part of the Colorguard again in the fall.  On top of all that, she’s one of the greatest big sisters I’ve ever seen.

When we found out last year that we were expecting a little surprise bundle of joy, I was afraid of how Gracie would take it.  She’s been my baby her whole life, and I wasn’t sure how she would feel about sharing me (especially since she couldn’t be here all the time).  I was worried for nothing.  She dotes on little Chloe as if it were her own child.  She’s so great about helping to change diapers or feed Chloe when I’m working, and honestly, Chloe LOVES the attention from her big sister.  It’s just amazing to me to watch the bond between these 2 grow, even with 14 years and 300 miles separating them.

So, all in all, I’m pretty blessed, and I just needed to brag on her a little bit.

Here’s a photo we had taken back in March when she was here for Spring Break.  This was right in the middle of Chloe’s most colicky, sleepless nights.  So don’t mind the complete look of sleep-deprivation on my face.  LOL

  • She’s gorgeous!! I love love love that picture of you guys. You really are blessed to have 2 beautiful daughters and such a lovely young lady. I love hearing the updates on how Gracie is doing in the forum.

It’s crazy how the older ones just take so naturally to the little ones. My 2 step-daughters are 13 and 11 and then we have Kennedy who is 15 months. So it’s nice to have the extra hands when they are around.

Chloe is so lucky to have such an awesome big sister like Gracie.

  • Chloe is sure one lucky girl to have a sister like you!!

  • What a gorgeous, wonderful girl you are, Gracie! I’m sure your mom is over the moon proud of you and that little Chloe feels like the luckiest girl in the world to have such a sweet, caring big sister! 🙂

  • Gracie sure sounds like the best big sister little Chloe could ask for. She seems to have great character, the kind that makes you beautiful from the inside out. 🙂

  • You know what? This remember me my younger sister.
Everything changed when she was born. Of course! But changes were for better and better.
I bet that Gracie, as this sweet girl that you’re talking about, feels the same. 🙂 And I bet they’ll be best friends! I know how much I love my sister. She will be forever MY baby! 🙂
Beautiful girls you have, Libby! They’re lucky to have you! 🙂

(don’t forget to tell to Gracie that my english is horrible! LOL)

  • When I read about a teenage girl like Gracie I always wish my two daughters would be like that when they grow up a bit. Great post Libby and Gracie is such a beautiful beautiful girl!

  • Oh LIbby! She is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like you have been blessed! I hope you two have a ton of fun for the several weeks you have her! Sounds like you are off to a great start! 🙂

  • Gracie, good for you for being such a great young woman! Good grades, the marching bad, and a good big sister?! Watch out world, Gracie’s coming!

  • Libby, it is so wonderful to see how proud you are of both of your daughters. I can promise that Chloe will sooo look up to Gracie. My sister and I are 15 years apart, with no siblings in the middle either. I am the younger sister, and I always idolized my older sister. As I grew up, my sister was the most important person to me and I wanted to be just like her. Since my sister was married to a man in the Navy, she lived away from me for many years. But we stayed close as I grew up because we visited each other as often as we could and wrote letters. Now with the internet, Gracie and Chloe will be able to be there for each other all the time. I know most people thing a big age gap is strange, but I thought it was awesome. All the best to your beautiful girls,
    Julie
