Fall means Festivals…

One of my favorite things about the Fall season is all the cute little festivals and carnivals that are put on by the community, churches and schools. This year I got to help chair the first Fall Festival at my son’s school.  First, last spring we decided on a theme to help get the teachers more excited creating their games and activities…The Wizard of Oz.  Everyone on the committee agreed there were so many possibilities with this book/movie and we knew the kids would love it.

The teachers made sure they all knew the story and even incorporated the theme into weekly lessons like readings, writing prompts and songs in music class.

It was a long 6+ months of planning, soliciting donations, recruiting parent volunteers and buying supplies, but it all came together wonderfully last Friday.  Here in Florida we always worry about the heat for any fall event, but we were lucky to get a breezy day and the only weather related tragedy was that we found out that cotton candy cannot sit in direct sunlight or else it starts to shrink.

Some of the fun booths we had were the Toto Toss, Pin the Badge of Courage on the Lion, I Wish I Had A Brain scarecrow game, Lollipop Ping Pong, Flying Monkeys Toss, Follow the Yellow Brick Road Cake Walk and of course the Emerald City where you could get all dolled up with Face Paint.  Obviously with it being a school I can’t share too many pictures, but here are a few.

I hope you enjoy all the festivals around you this Fall!!!
