Frankenstorm/Sandy bracing ourselves…

Hello my digital friends. Mary here bringing you today’s post on what’s going on in my neck of the woods.
If you are on the East Coast you know all about what we went through last year with the Nor’easter it really pummeled us. Snow in October, power outages, down trees. It was horrible. Two days before Halloween at that. It looks like this year we may be getting the same dose minus snow. It’s a little upsetting because we are on high alert for power outages and have been warned for the past 3 days of wind gusts up to 80mph, ughhhh. CL&P has sent out emails and advised us to be ready for the worst. They weren’t on anyone’s Christmas lists last year because of the delays in getting power back to it’s customers, as one newspaper put it our lives were in peril and the CEO resigned because of all the delays on getting power back, it was pure craziness 8 days for us without power.

The kids were so excited about going trick o treating this year and getting dressed up. They have been counting down the days since the 12th but I had to tell them not to get their hopes up since this storm is serious business like it was last year. School has already been cancelled for today and tomorrow so I’m sure vacation days will be taken away. We are all hoping to just stay safe and that it misses us and goes back to sea.
We are playing the waiting game as of last night.

If you are in NY, NJ or CT stay safe. I hope to not miss out on the upcoming iDSD festivities.

  • I’m here with you! We are in the Harrisburg, PA area, where the storm makes an abrupt right turn to head north. It’s going to pass right over us and our 100+ year old trees. Flooding for us is always an issue being so close to the river, but the steady rain might not make it the top priority. For us it will be the blowing wind. Stay safe. I’m praying for no more casualties. Good day to get scrapping or take some photos of the event for a historical scrap page.

  • My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family, Mary! And with all of you, girs! I hope everybody will stay safe!

  • I’m in the same boat as you, Mary and Dani! I live in CT(not on the shore, thankfully) and I’m shocked I still have power and internet. According to CL&P, 100% of my town has no power… I guess the wind just picked our whole house up and moved us to another town, LOL!

This is my first DSD, and if Sandy ruins it, I’m afraid there’s going to be some ill feelings between us.
