Halloween Activities

EEK!!! In a week’s time, we will be on the door steps of Halloween!

I, Rebecca, thought it would be fun today to talk about some fun activities we can do with our kiddos for Halloween.  Outside of the whole knocking on doors and asking for candy – which my kiddo thinks makes this the coolest holiday ever! And most of you know that I’m a homeschooling mama – so I like to have a bit of education behind the fun! Here are a few of the things that we will be doing over the next week to help build up the excitement!

We are starting out with Halloween Games with Skully The Skeleton by Growing a Jeweled Rose. This is a Halloween Elf on the Shelf version… I picked up a little skeleton at the craft store and he will be moving around the house little different activities to do each day…

Monster Slime by All Things Simple – How much fun this will be!! I even got some “eyeball” rings and other bugs to play in it… my boy is going to love this!!

Egg Carton Bats and Leaf Ghosts by Happy Clippings –  I saved the last egg carton, not sure what I was going to use it for… and I think this will be it’s upcycled calling! How fun are these bats… kiddo will love to paint them and the little ghosts, too! They will look very cool in our school room!

Paper Plate Skeleton by Pickup Some Creativity –  This will be so fun to cut out and discuss (at an overview) the different parts of the body! Now I just need to get some cheap white paper plates.

Halloween Hand and Foot Print by Handprint and Footprint Art – This is one thing I wished I did more when kiddo was younger… “capture” the size of his hands and feet. I have a few things from when he was in a Birth to Three play group… so I’m trying to work this into schooling.

Decorate Pumpkins ideas by Kids Activity Blog – So when it comes time to carve pumpkins and the adults are hacking away with knives… kiddo is a bit out of the loope. Last year he glued googlie eyes all over his pumpkin… I think this year we will break out the Mr. Potato Head pieces…

And of course there will be fun decorated food!  Last year, we invited over kiddo’s bestest friend – Caroline and family to go Trick-or-Treating and for a fun dinner. I made a bunch of spooky treats – thanks to Pinterest… it was so much work, but so much fun!

It will be a busy, busy week… and I still need to get some learning in for school!! haha… luckily, we have these great products from our very own Heather Roselli (and me :o) at Sweet Shoppe.  Just print them on photo paper or heavy weight presentation paper… cut and assemble… they will keep the kiddos busy waiting for the time to go out and Trick or Treat! 😉
