Trip of a lifetime…

Hey sweeties! Sorry this post is late today… I think I am still getting back in the swing of life. I am going to share a little about the trip of a lifetime that my sweetie and I got to take to Kenya Africa this past month. My inlaws are serving a mission there, so it was the perfect opportunity to get out of our comfort zone and travel the world. Honestly… I thought I really enjoyed traveling, but I will have to think long and hard about getting on an airplane for 24 hours again. The plane ride was the worst part, but all in all it was worth the experience.

We were gone for 14 jam packed days. While in Kenya, we visited with people who live there in the Kilunga Hills area. They are such sweet, soft spoken, loving people. We were able to attend church with them, visit them in their homes, and help teach some classes to help them better their families. I think I am in a little bubble, and my own world. I could not believe the culture difference even still today.

We were also able to go on a Safari that was amazing! We were so upclose, I literally could have reached out and touched some of the animals.

We had the opportunity to help this amazing man, Stephen. He started an orphanage over 10 years ago. Most of the kids are orphans because their parents are in jail or have died of aids. The orphanage is located in the Soeto slums of Nairobi Kenya. Stephen has started a school as well. when we visited there were 148 kids at the school. They put on a music program for us, then we helped teach them about hygiene and taking care of your body and teeth. Then we made a friendship chain to hang up around their classroom. These kids were resilient and amazing.

Definitely the opportunity of a lifetime. I will never forget the amazing people I met, and the memories that will be part of  me always. Words don’t do it justice. So glad that I could share part of this experience with all of you. Now I am excited to put together an album of our time in Kenya.
