30 Days of Gratitude: Day 10

SugarBabe Lex shares her love of Kpop.

I haven’t been a stranger to loving music I didn’t immediately understand. I believe my first forays into it were jamming to the soundtracks of Japanese anime Voltes V and Daimos when I was a kid in the 80s. When I really jumped into anime–back when I was 15–having Jpop cassette tapes was the norm. And once I started working, I had even added European artists into my iTunes playlists.

So, falling in love with Korean pop, or Kpop, wasn’t by any means a stretch of the imagination for me. There’s an addicting quality to the melodies and musical arrangements that make for awesome chair-dancing. It’s a fun pick-me-up after a long day of squeeze-my-brain-out editing. It makes for an awesome backdrop while I’m doing my makeup or enjoying my morning coffee.

Then you couple all the music with some of the slickest (and often the wackiest) choreography ever seen on YouTube, and, well, that’s entertainment for me.  Toss it some blinding color palettes on costumes and music videos, and by its very nature, a Kpop music video refuses to be ignored, haha!

I’ve done several Kpop-themed layouts, but this remains one of my favorites, which shows some of my favorite acts, and it’s set against the bright fun of Shawna and Misty’s kit. 🙂 Kpop has added a little more color and verve to my life–and for that, I’m immensely grateful 🙂
