30 Days of Gratitude: Day 15

SugarBabe Steph shares her gratitude for running.

Three years ago, I could have never run a block, let alone two miles. See, I picked up smoking again and then developed severe asthma. A horrifying trip to the ER after I spent the weekend unable to breathe, a half day of testing, and many doctor appointments—I quit {again} and have been smoke free since then. To combat the weight gain, I started Couch to 5K about a year ago. I finished that and ran my first race a year ago. I’ve been running 3-4 times a week since last November. Some days it is a struggle to get out there.  Some days I feel free, and other days I feel like getting in a mile is so incredibly hard. But running makes me happy. Running makes me a better mom, a better wife, a better person. I have an out for all my energy—both negative and positive. I am grateful for my sneakers, ear buds, and the road.
